I think the biggest thing I took from tonight's game was with ten minutes to go chasing the winner in a cup tie Postecoglu took off Richarlison our lead striker.
I really only see one way of reading that.
He was injured and limping.

Scarlett looks too slow for me unfortunately. It's a shame we are already out of one cup where he could potentially gain experience and minutes to prove me wrong...
I thought exactly the same re: Scarlett. Maybe him bulking up has been at the expense of his pace as his acceleration looked way slower than i expected last night.Scarlett looks too slow for me unfortunately. His first touch passing and skill to beat the defender were quite nice thoI thought exactly the same re: Scarlett. Maybe him bulking up has been at the expense of his pace as his acceleration looked way slower than i expected last night
If we actually sign the two wingers we’re linked to (seems unlikely if you ask me) I think there’s a high probability Son is our starting striker. Realistically, even if we just sign Fati I’d say we’ll try Son centrally to accommodate him.I am absolutely ready to give him more time as our starter, but I need to say I am a bit worried not having a real #9 alternative in the squad who would be ready to start, unless we want to shift Sonny or someone else in the middle. As of now his performances are very frustrating and honestly disappointing. Hopefully a few goals can get him going.
Didn't see much, but he did a really smart inside move instead of the obvious pass out wide, which would have put Son in if he had more power.'He looks like he needs games to me. I think he’ll be fine.
I think signing Johnson AND Fati is very unrealistic as we are not in Europe, but still I would like to have more natural goal scorer in the squad. Shame we don't go for someone like Orban who knows how to play as a 9 and how to place himself to score. Weaker leagues or not.If we actually sign the two wingers we’re linked to (seems unlikely if you ask me) I think there’s a high probability Son is our starting striker. Replying here, as the ITK thread isn't the place for it.It's not perfect no, but worst wondow ever? Come on. Richarlison isn't some dud either. He is a £50m striker who came off the back off of a very good season, and if we were buying him THIS summer people would be far happier. Weirdly people would be losing their minds with excitement if we were signing Vlahovic who's just had a shocking season in Italy, yet people aren't prepared to give Richy a chance after one injury plagued year playing second fiddle to kane.

I agree with your sentiment. However:
Vlahovic scored the same number of goals during his "shocking season" as Richarlison scored in his "very good season", despite playing circa 600 minutes less. Not only that, but he scored more goals last season than Richarlison has managed in any of the previous three, and only one less than Richarlison's best ever goal tally (15 in all comps).
Vlahovic has scored more goals than Richarlison in top-flight football, despite being 3 years younger and despite having played fewer seasons.
Vlahovic has averaged 0.62 goals per game in international football, while Richarlison has averaged 0.45 (both very respectable tbf).
Vlahovic scored 29 goals in his most prolific club season, while Richarlison's best is 15 (all comps). Limiting it to league goals only, Vlahovic still comes out on top by a huge margin, with 24 vs. 13.
Vlahovic is only 23, so has the potential to improve significantly by the time he reaches Richarlison's age.
Richarlison's most prolific season was 19/20. His goal output has declined in each of the three seasons since then, so there's little evidence to support any hopes of him suddenly providing the consistent scoring form that we need of our CF.
Like Vlahovic, Son is considered to have had an awful season last year. Despite this he also scored more goals than Richarlison has managed in any of the previous three, and only one less than Richarlison's best ever goal tally (15 in all comps).
So people are writing off Vlahovic and talking about Son being done / unlikely to be good enough beyond this season, while remaining optimistic that Richarlison can be the quality CF we need, despite their recent form matching Richarlison's best ever form.
I haven't completely given up on Richarlison yet, but the only evidence that suggests he can potentially be good enough for us is his international form...and we all know how meaningless that is when it comes to club football (Milan Baros says "hi!"). At the age of 26, we're having to hope he's a late bloomer.
For me, good enough would be:Fair enough, I pulled the Vlahovic comparison put of thin air. I just dont think it's fair to write Richarlison off at this stage, he's no Harry Kane but then who is? What do you define as good enough? Richarlison is a decent player, he'll work his arse off and he'll score a few goals. He's also played for Watford and Everton up until this point, not many players are wracking up 20-30 goals whilst in a relegation scrap. Let's give the guy a chance before we decide he isn't good enough.
