The thing for me is that nothing looks easy for him, he fucks up simple things and can’t do the basics at all.

I hope it’s a confidence thing and he improves, but right now he is genuinely a turnover machine
The issue is that I have seen him play for Watford, Everton and Brazil and those things he absolutely can do so yes I think it is a confidence thing. The question is can he be what we need him to be for this team and squad in the long term ? I'm not sure. I really hope so because I like the guy. I think he will get between 9-15 goals this season in the league but as so many of us have said will that be enough ?

Stick him wide again and leave Son up top. He's better running at people with the ball. I don't care where he plays for Brazil he is not a number 9 in the premier League.

That's not unreasonable at all. But would the manager do that ?

Still time to prove himself but it's not a good sign that we looked much better without him today.

Quite simply he needs to step up.

I'm a bit surprised we haven't even tried playing him on the left with Son in the middle. Clearly something's not working out with him as a CF, but we know there's a quality player in there. I guess he's not the kind of winger Ange is looking for.

Why play him on the left when both Solomon and Perisic are better technically, better with the ball at their feet and have better passing/crossing ability.

Because that's arguably his best position? I see what you mean, though. It's just frustrating.

It’s pretty clear when Son was there, even when his touch let him down, he was making moves and creating options for his teammates. Richie on the other hand kept getting into offside positions and the ball just wasn’t there which meant our play just didn’t have anywhere to go. He needs so much work on when to go and when to move into different spaces. Going to be a struggle to earn a starting spot when Son feels a much better fit.

I think somewhere in that range is enough from him if he can get his head up, find a touch, add to the team play and then actually get them. Ange may have his work cut out in managing him, certainly in the short term.

We've got options and goal scorers, he can play across the front 3, he has to show what he's made of now and why Brazil pick him as their no 9

Last year he was kicking off about being benched and even this year he's had a face like thunder getting subbed and even on the pitch today
I think that's just him frustrated at himself. He is clearly very passionate and his confidence is shot.

Always looks like he’s going to fall over when the ball comes near him .

He always seems to be marked too. Very rarely is he in space. Is he lazy with his movement? Or is it that he doesn’t know how to make space for himself?

He needs to improve quickly.

This is true actually never thought of it like that . Doesn’t seem to ever receive the ball in space .

He's a clear bench player for us. Like our Kuyt option essentially. He can come on and ruffle some feathers but doesn't offer enough over 90 mins. I think we'll probably look to replace him next year. Son is better up top, we have lots of quality in wide attack but Son is getting older. We need a more convincing player to come in as the long term successor to Son. Hopefully either Scarlett or Veliz will be ready in a year to be the new understudy. If not I'm sure we'll keep tabs on other young prospects, maybe another season scouting Orban. For now he's a good plan B option but I feel the play around him is bypassing him a bit. I feel the same with Hojbjerg in midfield and possibly Skipp. The next phase will be to replace them players particularly if we are back in Europe next season. They're too far a step down from the first team players they come on for. When the European games come around it won't be good enough. Not good enough to start in Europe or in the league and you can't play players like Son 3 games every week. It's actually a blessing we don't have Europe because we need another summer and Jan window to complete the squad rebuild before we're ready for that.
