I’d suggest we’ve got plenty of strength and talent up front, our front five, that will do us for the next few windows at least. Looks like José has been working in our defence and I’ll want to spend the money over the next few windows upgrading the back six.

Whilst not spectacular, signing PEH is an improvement on what we have now for his position and I imagine he’s a season long stopgap until we get someone in of higher quality, when he will revert to being a strong squad player.

I don't - we got daft money for him!

Mega wonga lol!

I guess if players don’t make it then it’s also considered a success if we get a good fee for them.

Still felt it was a shame with him though.

It was, but he didn't seem to be cut out for it. Would rather we get some revenue from those types than have them simply leave on a free

Still only 28 now.

He was involved in a few alcohol related incidents in his time at Dundee. Appears to love a drink and a scrap.

PEH seems like one that will very likely happen, and it's a position we badly need. Really not sure how good he is though

I guess he's available, will be complementary to what we have, and will be good value - so it seems sensible, if somewhat sobering that it represents the realistic extent of our resources/ambition

OK, just watched highlights of him. I think he looks pretty good. I'm OK with this now.

I can't see there are many options for anyone better, let alone acclimatised to the prem, for £25m (or whatever it will be)

Do it. Get Ndombele fit and on side (chance would be a fine thing), and that midfield is tasty as

If we want to win the League and Champions League we need to start looking at players that will shine and at Kane's level. PEH is good but I think top teams in Champions League (which is what we want to be) would barely consider him for the bench. We need to raise our bar.
Or you improve them.

Go back a few years, Henderson was a journeyman midfielder and never lit up the league.

Then Klopp got his hooks into him...

or because we do have, er, Kane
He’s not gonna come just to sit on the bench

or my personal fave of many on here- who is he going to displace in our first XI?

Klopp hasn´t improved Henderson that much in my opinion. He has found a role for Henderson that suits him tho. Henderson has improved himself a lot tho by finally accepting his role and his limitations. There was a time when henderson tried to play like a hybride hoddle/xabi alonso and he fell flat trying to do that because he couldn´t fill those shoes.
Credit to Henderson for finally arriving and finding the peak of his abilities by highlighting them instead of shooting for the stars and falling short.

I always think of Andros Townsend and wished he would have tried to be more Aaron Lennon than Gareth Bale. Working hard helping your full back and work within a role in the system instead of trying to be the focal point with the magic touch to make or brake a season for your team.

Personally I'm always very suspicious of these kinds of claims. The players will always credit the coach etc. But I think I had Klopp not signed so many good players, like Salah, Mane, Fabinho and VVD, then Liverpool would have just remained a top 6 club and the likes of Henderson would still not be that highly rated.

Give Henderson the exact same coaching, but with Everton's squad and I think his reputation would be the same it was a few years ago.

To be honest I never rated Dier as a DM and didn't think that much of big Vic either. But stick them in a team with prime Jan, Toby, Eriksen, Kane and Dembele and their reputations far out grow their ability. Had either of those two been playing as the DM next to Ryan Mason, Fazio, Soldado etc and I think they look as bad as they did last season.

Journeyman is a term used to describe someone who is "competent," not someone who has travelled a lot.

Until recently, that described Henderson to a tee.
This has blown my mind. You learn something new
