Chelsea have signed 7 players (none out) since Jan 1st. (about to make it 8 with another $100m)
We've got Daniel Juma on Loan.
this is the point. We arent asking the club to compete with this. But surely with record match day revenues, champions league money, 150m cash injection we could just sign someone whos value is known and we know first hand is a quality player and probably a bargain at that price without fucking around for 4 weeks until it becomes even harder to do the deal because his clause expires!

Whether it’s Levy’s fault or not, the fans won’t see it that way, & every home game he will realise that, if this deal doesn’t go through.

The fans are already restless with him, (this deal aside) & he simply therefore has to ‘push the boat’ & meet to their ‘demands’.

It won’t make the fans envy him less, but at least it’s something to ‘give back’.

You have nothing to suggest it's only down to Tottenham on this.

Honestly the state of this thread is really putting me off this site at the moment.

And there is plenty of stuff we can blame levy for, we don't need to force more stuff for the sake of it
I think the underlying problem is this kind of thing happens with us more often than not.
We are the common denominator here.

It’s a farce and the way we operate.

2.6m is actually a lot on top of the max you're willing to go too. Its not a lot to a top team but for a club who squeezes everything out of a deal under Levy its a lot. Penny Pinchers FC.
While that might be true, this transfer could be transformative - the difference between qualifying for the CL and not. If it doesn't happen because we're not prepared to put another ~5% down it could cost a lot more than that in lost revenue come the end of the season.

Are you on the pay roll or what ... what is your problem.

It was a clear/ simple deal. Levy as usual wants to negotiate and be clever.
Read the fucking thread. Seriously. Levy hasn't been involved in this, it's been intermediaries and Fab, and WLB has just said Levy needs to step in a get this over the line.

Read the thread. It's like you're posting for winner ratings, much as some people are on Twitter for likes and RTs.

Read. The. Thread.

I’m no fan of Levy and want him out but this saga has been going on for weeks. Its not just Levy.

This is exactly right. We always seem to have a sudden issue with the other club and blame them. It's Levy trying it on possibly with the hope that the deal falls through. I am sick of it

I don't think anyone in here is saying levy is perfect. And levy has done the same to others before. But so many in here seem to only want to blame levy on this when not been involved in it apparently, and sporting moving the amount even after it's agrees.

No wonder the club is toxic right now with how some fans are.

Seriously Levy isn't involved on the finances even though he ultimately makes the appointments and over sees the contract.

Also no need to be abusive... I haven't resulting to swearing.

We will always be the common denominator in our attempts to sign players from other clubs.....

Other clubs have issued also! We just don't follow them like we do ours.

Funny, because it sounds like he hasn’t been involved at all if he needs to STEP IN.

Can everyone just stop arguing. I dont care whose fault it is atm but the constant back and forth in every thread is exhausting. Take it elsewhere.

Lets just pray that we can sort this issue out and get this over the line.

I don't really know enough about how transfers work, but are we only allowed to negotiate during the window or is it actually sign in that period?
Technically a player can be signed 365 days a year, although for large periods of that time it is not realistic from club/players perspective as they cannot be registered for new club until defined periods during the season (the “transfer window”).

I'm not sure Levy thinks that way though, he's too stubborn. I hope they thrash this deal out but I'm so fed up with him. I mean if he thinks it's that important he should pay the release fee. Getting him beginning of the month could also be the difference of the odd point. Levy drags everything out because he has a fee he's willing to pay and always has to win rather than pay over.

I am not defending Levy but I am not blaming him..All through this window I have no evidence to suggest anyone other the people in the room have the true facts. Reading twitter today is like chinese whispers

It may be unfair to blame Levy in this particular instance, but over the years he has built a reputation of being an absolute tight arse to deal with who takes pleasure in pulling people's pants down in public. Sporting will have been well aware of this, just like everybody else, and that isn't a good place to be entering negotiations, ever. There should be good will on both sides, at least to start off with, but I think Levy has led us to a place where this is hardly ever the case.
