not sure you can fit hojbjerg and skipp into the same side apart from when trying to close out a game.

he'd be a good squad option but it would be better for his development to continue playing every week. if norwich get promoted it wouldn't be the worst idea to keep him there for another season and then come back ready to fight for a first team place, he'd still only be 21/22 by that point. he's doing well for norwich but i did worry for him a bit when he was subbed off in three straight games and each time his replacement ended up scoring the winning or equalising goal. it wasn't a case of him doing badly, just that as the most defensive midfielder he's often the one taken off when they're chasing a goal. he has started every game though and done well on the whole, can't really ask for much more given this is his first run of games at senior level.

Even then, it would still look more functional than a PEH & Sissoko pairing. Skipp should replace Sissoko next season.

The only reason i can see for Mourinho playing Sissoko is physicality and pace, not sure Skipp can replace those ( in JM's eyes) even if his positive attributes far outweigh Sissoko's limitations.

It is my hope that Jose sees the benefits of having a composed CM, who can pass, keep possession and win the ball back, traits that Skipp exude. Though I appreciate Sissoko, he slows down a lot of our play and he is very susceptible to the press. I look at the league and outside of Burnley, West Ham, maybe Newcastle and West Brom, not too many other teams would require us to play Sissoko in those games to try and match them physically.

Believe me I think Skipp or (whisper it around here) Winks are a massive upgrade on what Sissoko brings to us. For all of his physical gifts he is so limited it's untrue very often pointing at others and actively hiding from the ball when we are in possession.
All I can see that José has changed with Moussa is made him more disciplined and tasked him with tracking back with dangerous breaks. nothing that Skipp couldn't do with the added positives whenever we are in possession.

Just glad he's getting game time at a decent footballing side in the correct position. I'm sure he'll come back all the better for it.

From the Swansea camp

“that boy has no place in the championship”

“ran the midfield”

“nobody could get it off him or passed him”

“reminds me of Scott Parker”

“that kid from Spurs well wow”

Makes you wonder whether we'll call him back in January, seems a no brainer to me if he's ready.

Lovely to hear. I think we should seriously consider recalling him in January. Looking at our CM options, it's clear that neither Winks, Sissoko or Gedson can adequately step into that DM role that PEH has made his own. Skipp looks the most comfortable in that role and would be coming back to Spurs full of confidence and motivated to build on his time at Norwich.

He asked to go on loan specifically so that he'd get time on the pitch instead of sitting on our bench every week.

I just hate the idea of recalling him when he's settled in that Norwich side, it's just plain selfish and just bad practice and bad business. He's obviously playing well and enjoying his football, he needs to experience being at the heart of a team who are looking to push for a title, he needs to experience the high and the lows of a player who his team and his team mates depend on not only as a player but as a person. The
longer we keep him at Norwich this season the better player he will become and the more he'll mature.

I think he will provide competition to PEH next season with how he is developing. Great to see. Will be a master class if we move Winks on and replace him in the squad with Skipp who fits us better

Exactly.

"You can keep all season, as long as he isn't any good"

We can't have our bread buttered both sides are how QPR/Leeds/Norwich have been with Clarke and Edwards in recent times.

Skipp seems to be doing really well at Norwich, but I think people are setting themselves and him up for a fall if they think he’s going to come straight back into the squad here and magically solve our problems in his position.

He looks really good, don’t get me wrong, but give the guy a bit of space to succeed (and at times fail.)

Shadydan is spot on when he says Skipp should stay at Norwich for the whole season. Breaking the loan would be massively counterproductive both for Skipp and for our ability to loan players out in the future.
