The truth is that, apart from:
Sarr - covering CM
Emerson - covering RB
Our various wingers….

The drop off after the first team is stark

Vicario
Udogie
Romero
VDV
Bissouma
Maddison
Son, to an extent

…are all totally cemented as clear first choices.

It’s good, because they’re great players. But the squad is a little thin
Yep. First XI isn't the worry this season, it's squad depth.

Then again, we all knew that in one summer it wasn't going to be possible to address the retooling and squad quality together. Just have to cross our fingers on injuries, or at least the timing of them, say Bentancur is back to match fitness if something serious were to happen to Maddison etc.

Stinks for Manor. Always hate to see guys hurt.

I hope 1) this gives us an opportunity to give some of the u21 guys a chance and 2) this means we re-double efforts to have a top class winger or two ready to sign on Jan 1st.

It's similar to Arsenal's situation and squad depth.
Trossard and Martinelli out, they had to use Jesus out left.
Like if we have to use Richarlison there.

Our lack of depth is first of all at CB and in Bissouma's position.

Yikes - I get the whole "we need to reinforce", but you can't bank on having this many players either out or struggling.

For our attacking three places, we have:

Son - clearly not 100%
Manor - 2 to 3 months out
Johnson - 2 weeks out
Perisic - out all season
Sess (who could play there at a push) - god knows
Gil - still a bit longer it seems

Only Richi and Deki fit - neither of who are in sparkling form.

So 6 potential players either our or struggling

It's then quite a drop (I would guess) to the likes of Veliz, Santiago and Donley

Will be interesting to see how Ange plays it
The way our u21's have been playing so far this season, this could actually be the ideal time to blood the likes of Donley and Yago.
Their confidence must be through the roof at the moment and there's every chance that they can fill the gaps.

For once, I'm not actually too concerned about injuries because I actually think we've got a fair few youngsters capable of doing a Lennon, and I'm all for throwing the youth in.
Better to do it when the team as a whole is playing well, rather than when we're in a shit run of form and the pressure is really on.

This isn't news. It'll be sorted over the next few windows. People are getting ahead of themselves a bit because we are playing so well. The rebuild will take 18 months or so

I think the rebuild was always going to be a few years. Our last 2 have been a lot better than previous years. The difference for me this season is just how many are first team quality. We look at the bench now and think it looks poor but some of them were starters not long ago. Now they've dropped to the bench and the natural order is to upgrade over time.

Just need to see how certain players develop this season and which youngsters break through. Then we can analyse the squad again next summer. Just needs patience but no Europe is a blessing this season. It allows us to build a high level first team drilled into this football. Then we'll see what we need next summer when likely we have Europe again.

Well, yeah. Not saying it wouldn't. It was an observation on the current status

Apparently 6 weeks to 3 months recovery time after surgery encouraging to see website say rehabilitation will start immediately, being young and fit lets hope Manor is back quickly.

CB I see but in Bissouma's position we have Saar, Bentancur, Skipp, Hojberg (they all do different things but all capable enough to play). CB yeah we need another but I really think we need more attacking options.

The guys that can play on the left... Johnson hammy, Perisic ACL, Solomon meniscus, Gilly with the groiny and Sessy with a hammy too.

Richy can fill the void I guess
