So while they won't make the profit they were hoping for, I think all things considered, if we raise them a couple of mill from our friendly, it's better than a smack in the mouth.
Maybe add a sell on percentage and we're not taking the piss too much, especially when we could just take him for nothing and let them try the legal route.

Open the tickets to the non members as soon as possible then? Get a big crowd. Sell food, sell drinks, they seem to be hanging it out.

Why don’t we just give them €6m then + any proceeds from the friendly.

It’s a horrible situation for Shaktar to be fair :(
Because €6m is €6m... Of course it's difficult for Shakhtar but we're not just going to hand them money for a player who technically isn't even theirs. We're probably taking Solomon on precisely because he's free, how likely does it sound that we're just to give his old club some money out of pity? It sounds like the friendly is a gesture designed specifically to make them a not-inconsiderable amount of money, if we were being properly ****y we would've signed the player and said "see you in court" if they threatened legal action (which they've already tried and failed). At least we're doing *something* for them.

I guess because technically he is not their player. He is a free agent. We can’t just randomly pay another club money.

Same with the idea of a sell-on clause.
Doing something like that would set a very murky precedent which I’m sure the financially doped clubs would love to take advantage of.

This looks like a Levy classic. Free transfer, mitigated risk -albeit on large contract. Slightly concerned with the amount of starts he had (4 in PL, 7 overall) last season and the high percentage shot to goal conversion rate (9 SoT, 5 G) surely cannot be sustained. Whether he could adequately fill in for Son from the start of games if he was injured remains to be seen and a bit of risk.

Think Gnonto from Leeds would've been a slightly better option as a young wide player with bags of potential and high ceiling, although of course would command a higher fee. Gnonto's carries into the box - 17 compared to 2 for Solomon, although he played far more minutes - and progressive distance covered make him a very dangerous threat for opposition defences. Keito Nakamura from LASK would've been another good relatively cheap option coming from the Austrian league - but his style of play is similar to Son and we need more players to contribute goals/assists.

Solomun had a bad knee injury at the beginning of the season that kept him out until jan. Then he fought his way into to the team scored 5 goals in 5 games then did a bad interview basically saying he didn’t want to stay at Fulham and then silva dropped him.

Spot on, and i'd also add that Silva mentioned in pre and post match interviews that Solomon wasn't ready to start games because of that knee injury, he needed to build up to it over a period of time (then, as you mention, it went pear shaped behind the scenes)

His contract expires in December........so they would get nothing from December anyway!
Aren't we allowed to sign a precontract 6 months before expiry? In the interim 6 months we have him on a loan.

But isn't he only a free agent because of the change in rule because of the war which isn't their fault.

I know football is corrupt and life is unfair and the rule makes sense for the safety of the players/staff but in normal circumstances we'd not get Solomon for free he's worth a good £30-40m+ so paying them 6mil euros seems a fair compromise imo but hey what do I know.
