In the past I've largely defended Trippier, believing that he's a decent enough player just frustrating because he's not suited to our best system. But this season he's gone backwards massively to the point where I really think he needs to be moved on. He's always been "just about" good enough to make do with at best but now he's a complete liability against anyone half decent. No he's not the main culprit and nor was he our worst player last night, but overall I just think if we want to take a step up to the next level he's a player who, even at his ceiling, is simply not good enough, and in the modern game where fulbacks are becoming one of the most important positions I think it's a weakness that we can't afford to have if we want to be taken seriously.

He is turd when he tries to play. He's OK when he doesn't have time to think about being fancy.

Simply not good enough & surely Poch realises this but I have a feeling he will still be with us come next season as we have other positions to fill

I think replacing Trips is now a real priority. He’s costing us goals and games. If he’s still at the club next season I hope it’s only if he’s back to 2nd choice.

He really lacks athletism. A few times in the second half he had the ball with loads of space to run into but he just couldn't, instead he put the ball in early, from a poor position, and the attack failed.

He's an attacking full back who is not that good at attacking.

Defensively he is a liability since he has no athleticism. In a side that has a deep defensive line he can get away with it but with how we push up so high (stupidly so sometimes) there is no hiding. There's also the factor he's not tall so balls over his head and into space will always cause him trouble.

And on the attacking side, his crossing is vastly overrated. What he is good at is those intricate first time balls down the side but it seems the bigger his reputation has become the more he feels the need to act as a playmaker. We never relied on Walker to create chances, his pace was just important to keep the width and be on the overlap. Yet for some reason Trippier is given so much of the ball which amounts to so little.

I can't imagine what KWP must be doing to be behind Trippier in the pecking order.

I'm feeling a bit knee-jerk this morning, which leads me to think that Foyth might be a better RB option if KWP is deemed unsuitable. I'd probably play KWP against Bournemouth though, don't see how he doesn't deserve that chance.

@Paolo10 you can dish out as many negative ratings as you like. When you see a huge, huge majority of people slating Trippier, you need to start looking at yourself pal.

Trippier has been really poor this season. It’s sad to see. But i have to admit i don't really like people piling in on the lad and if i have given out negative ratings in the past it is because of the way people behave. The language being used about him is pretty disgusting to be fair.

His performances this season are fair game for criticism but i do think its gone beyond that. I know it is a forum and people can post what they want but it has been taken to the stands. I can only go to a few games a year but this year has been by far the worst year in terms of atmosphere. What was once confined to a the odd person, i sat through two lots of 90 minutes where it just seemed to be people constantly screaming and shouting abuse at players, as well as racial slurs aimed at other fans too.

It not just us, happens at all clubs, but unlike some other players (Ozil perhaps) despite his really poor form, he still gives 100% on the pitch and i think we should support that. Average to decent full back ? yeah, but his a yid.

Sell for £25m and bring in one of Atal/AWB/Meunier/Aarons/Dumfries

His only stand-out attribute was his crossing, and that's gone to shit as his confidence has drained away.

I'm sure with a proper break this summer, and a chance to reset he'd find some form again, but even it his best we need better.

It's time to re-up the RB.

I’d rather just sell him and use Foyth there if we have other priority positions. Foyth looked decent there and keep Aurier. Use the £30m for trippier elsewhere (e.g. desperately on a CM!)

I've never been the hugest fan but have tried to refrain from being too negative about Tripps, however the time has now come. I don't want him anywhere near the side, I would prefer KWP until the end of the season, Foyth hasn't even looked that great but Tripps' downturn has made him look the more appealing option recently. We've changed the way we play and it doesn't involve a passenger whose greatest threat (crossing) offers us no advantage currently. He is a really, really poor defender.

I agree , I remember a time when his crossing was a real genuine threat. Now he’s rushing everything , he’s flustered and worried. Confidence is shot even more since the Chelsea OG . Needs to go he won’t recover

There is literally no benefit playing Trippier now, even if he does do some nice passing from out the back from time to time even then he gets that wrong.

Just play Foyth in the rest of our matches, he might be reluctant to go round the outside sometimes (as if Trippier does that anyway) but he's a much more solid option.

He cant defend. He has horrible awareness and even fails miserably at the one thing he’s supposed to be good at. There is nothing left to say anymore about him but that he is shit. He shouldnt be anywhere near a football pitch in a Spurs shirt.
