he’s honestly perfect for us. elite wingback who can also play further forward in a pinch due to his extremely qualities.

Do we get Kostic, Perisic, or both? I think the targets for LWB just cement the belief that Sess is the long-term successor for this role in Conte's system

Both are just ideal players for Sess to learn from. He’s made a step up with a consistent run and you worry that coming in and out of the team might not really help him but I think if managed well it could still give him relative consistency with one eye on his health. Someone like Kostic isn’t blistering but always manages to find himself space to make a ball. Sess has shown he can pick the right passes but still at times struggles to get that extra yard so hoping that’s something he can learn/develop working alongside a more experienced wing back.

I cant remember the last year where we had these reliable reports of us going for various people this early - fucking amazing.

Would be great to sign both him and Kostic, gives us flexibility, while perisic can cover both sides. Which could spot the end for Doherty.

I'm not sure who I'd prefer as I do think that unless we are selling/loaning out Sessegnon we can only have one of Kostic and Perisic.

Persisic is more of an athlete and I think probably a more natural fit for the system with the benefit of being capable of filling in at LWF. Kostic whilst not as athletic, has the added threat of being a deadly set piece artist.

One thing I will add though is that after looking at Bastoni's compilations, the idea of having someone wide that will stretch the play makes a lot of sense as the lad can deliver quality crosses himself.

Honestly, we could accommodate all 3. I’ve said elsewhere Carrasco would make sense in addition to Kostic as he can cover both wingback positions and play further forward. Same really goes for Perisic (and even Kostic). So, basically, I think if you brought on both, it’d give us great depth at a position that extracts a ton of energy given Conte’s demands and when you have a few older players (In this scenario Doherty, Kostic and Perisic) and an injury-prone one in Sess, it does make sense.

Kostic as a LWB and Perisic as a RWB would be insane in terms of attacking output from with the wings. Do it.

EDIT: Especially in a 352 with potential CM trio of Eriksen, Bentancur, PEH and Kane and Son up top, that is goals galore.

we can offer CL and guarantees of playing time, chelsea can’t as they’ve got chilwell (who tuchel loves)

With Bastoni that would be too offensive of a back line.

Imagine it’s scenarios like this though that leads to being strongly linked to very different styles of player for the same position.

For example, if we get Bastoni then we might opt for a more defensively capable LWB like Borne Sosa. Whereas if we can’t get Bastoni then we might opt for the defensive Gleison Bremer combined with the more offensive Perisic.

Think this is a sign of good team building and would be indicative of the work being done by Paratici

I think this summer will be less about getting players out before getting players in at the beginning of the market as Conte has said the squad is small and will need to be bigger next season, with the 5 substitution rule coming in next season. Perisic is a player with huge experience and can play in a number of position. In effect, he could be our James Milner, in a manner of speaking.

Obviously we will need to reduce our wage bill, as players like Ndombele are rinsing us for huge amounts, so in’s before ours will be the case but only up to a point before it begins to bite financially.
