I always knew Lloris needed a change in manager style to perform at his best again. Hope he’ll get rewarded for his long career at Spurs with a trophy.
Less focus on kicking and playing out from the back and rushing out to stop balls behind our high line under Poch and more focus on his world class shot stopping and surprise surprise we have a less nervous and error prone Hugo.
He’s been so solid for ages now under Jose.

He was performing well for Poch too, statistically very well. He was just making mistakes because that's the high-risk style Poch likes to play. His performances are not different, just doing a different role that means he is less exposed and less likely to make mistakes.

It's a change of function, not form. Even at his most error-prone Lloris was still a fantastic goalkeeper. Without him we would have been knocked out 3 times over (group stage, Man City and Ajax) in the Champions League run to the final for example. Sometimes he is taken for granted. Yesterday he made another important stop.

Fantastic performer this year. Along with Son, Kanes and Alderweirald (!) he has been in the top band of performers for us this season.

I don't know why because he's far better than Pickford...maybe cause he plays for Burnley.

I said in another thread that I think he’s the stand out replacement for Hugo within the PL. I think Hugo still has a good few years left in him at the top, but if he did want to leave in the summer we should look at Pope and I expect he’d jump at the chance to leave as it would boost his England chances and his bank balance. Plus Burnley aren’t going to ask for a stupid price for him.

I kind of ignored him when he came through at Burnley but he’s fought his way through to become their number one and this season when I’ve seen him he looked to have it all. Especially against Liverpool where he was dominant in his box. One example being coming for a cross in injury time and getting a hand on a ball that if he didn’t would of resulted in a goal. Lots of keepers may of left it for their defenders to deal with but he was decisive and accurate with his decision making.

I would like to see him become England goalie though first and see him play in a team where his concentration levels will be tested more because of having less to do in a game.

Completely agree about how good pope is, the only thing is he turns 29 in a couple of months. Assuming Lloris sees out his contract I'd expect us to go for a younger keeper as a long term replacement.

I think most people rate Pope better than Pickford. But, there is a reason Pickford plays for England, and that's because Southgate values his distribution, having said all that Pope is a much better goalkeeper and when Lloris leaves we could do worse!
