If you are going to play to Kane's strengths going forward, you need to play him in the hole like Sheringham with Son or ANOther up top.

Hot take, Poch system was fantastic and fun but the constant running was burning out Kane. Poch pretty much admits his system leeches the energy from his players and they can't do it year on year. You need new bodies. So, in this system under Jose might Kane actually be able to elongate his career.

A secondary issue with Kane is he has a touch of the Rooney about him. He needs to hold his position rather than think he's the best at most outfield positions (even if in some cases it might be true).
This could well be a wider problem with the team.

This thread is a car crash. Sell Kane? FML.

I can’t say I don’t have genuine concerns about Kane ( whether the injuries will have taken their toll and whether he’ll be wanting to leave).

However, willingly selling him is absurd. Our attempts to replace him ( even with a lot of money recouped ) will not go according to the imagination of those that advocate selling him.

In fact, that will be a true car crash in super slow motion.

as Dan Nolan says he always takes a few games to come to his best . The talk of benching him is ludicrous the only way he is going to regain his best for is by playing .We as supporters are going to have to put up with lacklustre displays until he regains his form .
As for selling him just because someone has got the hump because he has not come back flying is simply ludicrous not to say childish .

This is his August, he normally never scores in August before he starts to bang - he's like a steam train in that sense, people have forgotten that though it seems.

We only have to remember the champions league final to see kane never comes back from injuries anywhere near sharp enough, we really need to start him on the bench when he returns from injuries

The Kane of the time of this video hasn't been seen for a while now. I think, but hope the opposite, that the Shearer comparisons are continuing. We've had the Blackburn equivalent and now we're seeing the Newcastle version, the goals will still come but the rest of his game is diminished.

From the press conference just now:

Mourinho long answer on Paul Merson and his comments about Harry Kane

"I feel a bit strange at some analysis and some comments, especially as it looks for me at the beginning of some comments and analysis have started from Paul [Merson]. I have to say I respect a lot people like him and because I respect him a lot, I want to be nice in my answer.

"I don’t think he’s ready for a bad answer so I try to be nice and say something that people can think a little bit. First of all Harry played his first game for six months, and if you watch and analyse the game, compared Harry Kane with Anthony Martial. It was a game of many chances, it was a game where the two strikers had a lot of chances.

"Do you give credit to my defence for Martial game, do you give credit to the United defence for the occasions we create or didn’t create? You have to look at it in a balanced approach. Harry doesn’t play a game for six months. The record of goals that Harry has for me is easy for me. Go to your data and it’s easy to see how many matches he played with me and how many goals he scored before his injury.

"I had a few strikers that played for me and they’re not bad. I have a guy called (Didier) Drogba he played for me four seasons, he scored 186 goals – an average 46 goals per season. I had another guy who is also not bad, played for Juventus now. He played for me three seasons, he scored 186 goals, which gives an average of 56 goals per season. I had another guy who is also not bad, called Karim Benzema. He played for me three seasons, he was not always starting because he was quite young at the time, he scored 78 goals in three seasons, which gives a 26-goal average per season.

"I had another called (Diego) Milito, he played one season, he scored 30 goals, won three titles. I had another guy, he played for one and a half seasons seasons, in the other half he had a big injury. A tall guy called Zlatan (Ibrahimovic).
He scored 58 goals, which gives a 29 average per season. So dear Paul, I have lots of respect for you. I think Harry Kane has no problem at all to score goals in my teams, especially when he’s fit and fresh and has routines of playing. That’s my message to somebody I have lots of respect for.

"I just gave him my answer, you’re all free to have an opinion. I am free to disagree. I could be aggressive in my answer. I have been aggressive many many times, I still can be.
"I decided, because it’s Paul and I have respect and other things more than respect, I decided to answer just with data and then you have my answer."

Yes people remember that . But also the bang hasn't been in full effect for 18 months and its understandable that this stretch of form is a concern for those who follow the team rather than personalities .

The overall quality of his performance vs Utd was by general acceptance (beyond here too) not up to much and we need a firing forward if we want a European place . Why wouldn't people comment on this concern ?

That's not my argument though?

It also might be handy if someone passed the ball to him near that thing with a net between two posts.

That’s passive aggression right there that would make my missus proud.

Time to sell at the end of season. Invest in a fast and less injury prone player or two replace him. Strengthen in other areas. No brainer.
A fast striker who doesn't get injured and is better than Kane. There must be tons of them lining up for a transfer to 8th placed Spurs!

Think his numbers on Drogba isn't quite right though, he only scored 100 for Chelsea in total, 156 appearances maybe!
