Hopefully it's just me, but I ranted in the match thread during the first half about how absolutely woeful he was. And...to be honest, I really do think he absolutely was. Many wasteful turnovers and a lack of any fuck in getting to any second ball. He had a much better second half, boosted by that pass, but still not seeing where the jazz-fest is coming from. Was not a good enough performance on the whole imo, even in isolation, but nevermind the many, many poor performances gone before.

Seems like such an awkward one for me, as he obviously has it in him to be part of this squad, but you can only see him wanting to stay as a starter, and for me he needs to do more, stay healthy more, and be more consistent for him to have a chance at starting on merit at this club. I suppose the second half of this season will dictate how it pans out, as he needs to be gone this summer unless he signs a new deal.
He was far from the worst out there in the first half and the reality is we don’t win that game without his involvement. It was his tenacity that won the ball for our first goal, according to the match stats he lost the ball three times in the whole game. Think it is just you, if he wasnt MOTM it would only be because Udogie was so good, they were the outstanding players for us.

I agree with you mate but we are in the minority on here. He was very good in the second half but he was really awful in the first half imo.

I think his performances should be in the context of his squad role. He is arguably third choice in both the 10 and the 8 role. He is to us what someone like Fabio Vieira is at Arsenal.

He's been given 4 starts this season and has 2 goals and 2 assists. I don't think he was as woeful as you suggest in the first half and he certainly didn't have a lack of any fuck when he won a 50/50 for the first goal.

For the first time since his arrival it feels like he is enjoying himself, with his Argentinian friends and with Ange's style of football.

His long term future will be decided in the summer, but he still has a big role to play this season.

Not going to be critical of his performance tonight as i got like a million dislikes the last time i did that lol.

I was disappointed in him though. Burnley at home, under the lights, i think thats a perfect game for him to dominate the ball and control the flow of the game in the way a Modric, Dembele or Eriksen would have.

Again not trying to be negative or slag Lo Celso off but i just want to see more from him, want to see him play like he did for Villareal against Bayern Munich.

His performances in Maddisons absence have been ok but When Maddison is fit he comes straight back into the side. Just feel its a wasted opportunity from him to really nail down a place in the starting 11.

Maybe I’m wrong but my guess is that he is not totally fit. His minutes have appeared limited and some of the times he subbed in or out this season have seemed planned. Ange even admitted he came off today due to feeling something.

Quelle surprise.... Is he capable of playing more than a few games before breaking down?

My ESPN stream was not the best but I thought Lo Celso played well against Burnley, but again he was happy to go off at 60 minutes, something is up!!

Still unconvinced as the number 10, and seems happier playing as a bit of a deeper playmaker at the mo. Thought he was fine/not bad

Thought he was ok in a team that really was quite disjointed with too many players just ok, along with Kulu, Skipp, Richy, Bent who were all off on the night. If Richy had his finishing boots on might have been differen.

Felt tightness. Dam.

I agree it wasn’t his best game but he was still our best attacking player by far and created a lot of good opportunities for our forwards in space.
The amount of times he looked up and had no pass on as skipp wasn’t there, the front 3 weren’t moving etc.
It’s tough for a 10 without movement and we lack good movement without son, it’s worrying

He needs to play the 8 with kulu in 10 until Maddison is back. That’s where he is at his best dictating the tempo and seeing the game ahead of him not receiving the ball up against the back line but moving forward into those spaces with it.

He's doing ok. He has some great moments. Sometimes holds onto the ball too long for my liking. I can't put my finger on it, but there's just something not quite there with him for this league.

Kulusevski is a better 10 than Lo Celso. I think Gio is better in deeper positions. Still unconvinced he is ever going to really make it here as a regular starter.

But he doesn’t need to be a regular starter. We need options and he’s more than good enough to rotate.

Id rather give the likes of Donley a chance personally and we could get a reasonable fee for Gio
