Once everyone is fit (we can only dream 😂) I'd love to see a midfield of Lo Celso, Maddison and Bentancur against teams that will sit deep and just defend.
A month ago you'd have been locked up for saying you want Lo Celso in your preferred midfield ahead of Bissouma. By the time Maddison is fit we might all think Bentancur is the worst player we've ever had.

I like him a bit further back than Maddison. Think they could both play together if one can do the job on the right of the midfield 3

Agree that he's better as a deep-lying playmaker as opposed to a real attacking type that some of us hoped he was going to be when he was signed to replace Eriksen. He's literally scored more PL goals in the last two games that he had done in the previous four years since signing for us!

He doesn't start for me when everyone is fit but with the players we've got out at the moment, my god we needed somebody to step up and I'm glad he's done so.

He showed his ability for a bit under Mourinho but he's never been played in his actual position in a team suited to his actual style.

There's a reason why he gets picked for and starts for Argentina over the likes of Enzo & Macallister he can be frustrating and he does seem to at times be a bit aloof.

But I think he's a useful player, if he can stay fit be showed in pre season he's clicked a bit with Ange.

Shame really the damage seems to have been done with him, he doesn't and won't want to stay passed his contract and the other problem is Xavi wants him at Barcelona.

If we can potentially get Raphina/Torres/Kounde potentenially plus a part with some cash I don't think we should really stand in his way

I definitely am excited about him and Maddison being on the pitch together. Not a direct comparison but having two technically gifted playmakers with one being deeper and the other like a second striker was a fun time when it was Modric and Van der Vaart.

Pity his contract is winding down really. Unless Ange really is a football Casanova, would be be willing to commit to another 4/5 years here after the disjointed, messy previous 4 with us?

I understand injuries etc have hampered him and I'm not not laying blame on the club etc. it's just been poor timing/luck and with all the managerial changes during his time here he might want a clean break.

Is there any ITK about Gio's thoughts about his Spurs future? Any chance he'd be open to staying beyond his contract?
There was talk about him and his family being settled in London but that didn’t come from ITK. If he is getting regular game time I don’t see why he wouldn’t tho. Clearly has a crew here with all the Spanish speakers.

I think the next 2 months will be critical for that. I really hope Ange doesn't drop him when Sarr comes back but I don't think he will now Bentancur has had his setback. PEH, Sarr and Bissouma lacks craft for me.

Then next season if we're in Europe I think you can convince him of more game time.

I don’t see why not? Deki is the one who’s currently playing the more advanced role of the CMs which Maddison had been playing. Gio is playing as an 8.

I don’t see why against a fair number of teams we couldn’t play with Bissouma or Benny holding, with Gio and Maddison as 8s.
GLC is no Eriksen defensively, he's actually a much more capable defender than people give him credit for. I believe he played as DM for PSG.

I liked him in the 10 role. It’s a plus that he can cover that and the eight. However, the team had a better balance with PEH and Biss as the 6 and 8. And Lo Celso found more gaps floating around, like Madders does.

Brilliant confidence building game.

would like to see him play the ball quicker and look for offensive passes more often, frustrated me several times this game - probably because i'm used to see madders & sarr have that mindset

Another quality goal and he played well again with some lovely moments of quality.

I always wanted to see how he’d do under a proper quality, attacking manager rather than defensive dinosaurs. I felt like we’d then see the Gio I saw play for Betis.

In the last 2 matches we’ve seen that Gio. I just hope he can stay fit because the injury issues have really been shit for him and us.
He could play 8 alongside Maddison

Particularly if we have the Romero VDV pairing back together.
