By the fact I said also poor, I'm not sure it needed fixing.
Your post seemed to imply he was playing with a shower of players and that was the reason he was shit. I was merely pointing out that it wasn’t and he was simply shit himself regardless of the others.

GLC seems to have a list of ready made excuses anytime he is poor, which is what he has been most of his Spurs career.

If you’d started Maddison but in the same lineup as today he’d have helped the side perform better. Same with Bissouma. Lo Celso was just at the same level as everyone else. He didn’t raise the level of the team. He was just there. I think this idea he needs to be playing alongside better players is a cop out. Great players perform even in average starting 11s. They stand out, in a proper game here at Spurs I have not seen him stand out at all.

He should be sold I think, we need a backup CM who has the quality to come into the side and stand out. Sarr has done so, Skipp hasn’t yet. We’re short in that area going forward this season.
If there's an area we're short in, midfield is the last place we need to look.

Maddison and Bissouma in particular have elite dribbling ability so yes I agree they would have done better than lo Celso in the starting line up. They're also better players, mainly because they can break out of a press/ pressure using that dribbling ability, even if there are not good passing options available. But they're also our 2 best midfielders (alongside Bentancur)

Lo Celso is not as good a dribbler as either player. But that doesn't mean he's a shit player or not good enough. He's a pass and move player, one that fits well in Argentina's style of passing and moving (and us when we play well.) That is his main strength. He has a great eye for a pass when there is movement, and likes to play tiki taka style one touch football.

He can't play to that strength if there is no movement and not enough good passing options which is what he had to deal with in the first half.

Gonna say it in this thread as I don't have much time and it could go in numerous ones...

Before a couple of wins I read

"Get Lo Celso out " " He's shit!" " cancer"

Actually you could replace his name with Holjbergs, Lloris, Skipp, Dier and numerous others

This week I've read how much of a fuck up it would be if we sell Sanchez, sell Holjberg , how we don't know what we're doing if we let them go to a rival.

And tonight according to the internet they're all shit, never make it , have to leave and of course Ange is at fault even though this morning he was the Messiah.

I know it's not everyone but got god sake have some balance. If you're view and thoughts are skewed that much by a early season cup game then I'd question how much attention you're paying to it and if you're that desperate to get the vitriol out because of one bad performance after such a fun start then have a word with yourself and think about if it's worth it because if you haven't enjoyed this start then I worry you never will.

We all knew it was going to be a season of ups and downs and finding out way. We all knew patience was required and yet it seems to have gone out the window after one bad day .
Don’t think it’s about tonight’s game at all as the players you mention have been poor for a while. Tonight’s game was simply another example of it.

Christ.

Some of what people spout is madness.
Yes he hasn’t been great for us, but he’s not the worst to put on the shirt.

People forget that players are human too and forget the circumstances that have contributed to where he is now.

He didn’t ask for Poch to be sacked soon after joining, then the hiring of 3 managers that don’t suit he’s style of play and to be shipped out on loan.

Give the bloke a chance under a manager that is willing to give him time. As he’s proven out on loan, he isn’t a bad player. He is more than good enough to be used in squad rotation.

Not given much of an opportunity to succeed lining up with other back up players all at the same time.
Ange talking about testing the players and judging them. Thrown into it together, nothing good was going to come from it.
Now only solution probably is to get rid of them all .. wasteful ..

I think the number of changes compounded the effect of being below par. If Lo Celso had played alongside the match sharp Bissouma and Sarr in midfield, for example, his own rustiness for competitive action would not have been as exposed.

I guess I’d like to say this game shouldn’t be the deciding factor on whether he stays or goes and that the underwhelming 45 mins doesn’t mean he can’t come back from it to make a good contribution down the line. Realistically, though, with the transfer window set to close this showing could determine his future.

It’s a shame things haven’t shaken out well for him at Spurs. He definitely has quality, but a combination of injuries, being utilised in roles/systems that don’t play to his strengths and perhaps some attitudinal issues that have been eluded to by other posters have put paid to his chances.

while I do agree that you can’t judge GLC on his play tonight you absolutely can just him on his intensity/hustle. Multiple times I saw him loafing and it chasing down the ball/pressing.

Obviously it’s dumb to judge a player on the back of a single performance. That being said, I’m certainly getting the impression that Ange doesn’t really trust him in the system. Slow to bring him on, quick to take him off, and preseason aside he’s not shown much in the limited time he has had. If Ange is happy to let him leave I’m not going to complain, just hope there’s a suitable replacement.

If he does end up leaving, I think we'll try to sign Hatate as his replacement.
I'm not one to overreact and call players shite on the back of one performance. However, there is a marked difference between the energy and pressing that Maddison brings the team and what Lo Celso generally has shown with us. As much as I admire Lo Celso's technical qualities, if he was to leave and Hatate was to come in, I wouldn't shed any tears.

Agree. Play him with Biss and Sarr in the middle and we shall see his real quality. It's really that simple. Movements from this pair give players like Lo Celso space to pass and run.

Only gripe I have with him is he seems to be easily injured.

He was bobbins last night and it confirmed all I had thought for a while which I stupidly let a goal against Sea Lion Sailors in pre season almost convince me otherwise

Lo celso has never been good for us!

Yeah, people complain about Tanguy but GLC's goal and assist stats for us are worse than Tanguy by minutes played. Not to mention that most of them were in the the cups against shite oppo while most of Tanguy's has been in the PL. Why people are excusing GLC is beyond me, he has been a complete disaster signing also.

Needs to be sold now, it's clearly what he wants anyway.

I'd still like to see him with biss and sarr to see what he can do in this team. Peh and Skipp should never start together imo
