As much as I think Lo Celso is a skilled player, he hasnt really shown he can do it consistently.
Ange and his team must has seen something (or maybe they havent) that places him below others in the pecking order.
I think so far we have Bissouma and Madison as certainties and Skipp/ Sarr have been tried.
Maybe these two were tried first is becuase they are more diligent in their running and sticking to instruction?
I would say both cover more ground and do more of the dirty work. Maybe this is what Ange wants to allow Madison more freedom and Bissouma to step through the lines as and when he sees fit?

Can he meet that need when he is unmotivated again at not playing week in, week out? Not so sure myself.

Agree. He strikes me as a player who could be good if playing regularly but I can’t see him making a meaningful impact being in and out of the team. His career has never really got started at Spurs anyway so I can’t see him being happy to be in and out of the team.

Have we actually had a good offer for him then? There's no point loaning him but if we could get a good fee he's one we could sell. I would only sell one of him or Hojbjerg though and Lo Celso is better suited to this system of the 2. It just depends what offers come in as we do need to free squad space.

In one of the post match interviews, Ange said that Royal and Skipp did nothing wrong last week, he just wanted to see how Porro and Sarr would do. He said he had others that he wanted to try to - presumably Lo Celso would be one of those?
Do you think he might try Lo Celso instead of Sarr at the weekend against Bournemouth. Try a midfield of Bissouma, Lo Celso and Maddison? Or is a straight replacement for Maddison in his team.

Obviously assuming Maddison is fit at the weekend

Love what Ange has done in such a short time. His structure means he is pretty much committed to playing two wing forwards. On merit Son and Kulu have been fortunate as they weren’t great preseason and have struggled to make an impression in the first two games. By contrast Gio is competing for the Maddison role and Maddison has been outstanding and has importantly shown up as a real leader on the field, you can see why Ange hasn’t subbed him to date. Despite a good preseason Gio will need to bid his time.

If he is seen as a pure backup to Madison then of course he's not going to be happy.. Think he's a bit more versatile than that . Could even come in for Kulu or in the CM positions in some games.
Bit surprised he hasn't featured at all after a decent pre season.

Hope he can stay motivated as if he goes we become far too reliant on Madison...

I think he'll probably use the fact Maddison is touch and go as an opportunity to give Lo Celso a run. We've got Fulham shortly after anyway so perhaps Maddison can play in that.

Tottenham closes the door to Barça for Lo Celso

Spanish article about us Rejecting a loan move to Barca for Gio.

Translation -

Tottenham closes the door to Barça for Lo Celso

Except for an unexpected turn in the last hours of the market, Lo Celso will not wear the Barça shirt next season . The Catalan team was interested in the transfer of the Argentine but Tottenham responded with a refusal . The only option would be a sale, an operation that the Catalan entity is in a position to be able to face. In addition, having run aground on the negotiation by Lenglet, a possible way of entente has been lost for now.

The use of a fourth midfielder, a design implemented since the last Spanish Super Cup, makes Xavi welcome the signing of a quality player in the last third of the field . There, Lo Celso fit in. And even more considering that it is not a structural piece in the schemes of Ange Postecoglou, the new Tottenham coach. However, seeing the good work of the Argentine in preseason -two goals-, the London club sees no point in parting ways with the attacker with virtually no profit. Despite the fact that Lo Celso has not played minutes in the first two days of the Premier League , the 'Spurs' value his talent as a useful weapon anytime there are rotations, injuries or sanctions.

The story could be different if Barça put 10-15 million euros on the table , but the economy of the Catalan club does not allow it. Not for a complementary piece and not for a basic necessity like Lo Celso would be, which, far from it, focuses its probable continuity in London as a drama.

The fact that the negotiations for Lenglet have stalled has not played in Barça's favor either . Conte's departure has cooled Tottenham's desire for the French central defender, so the Catalans cannot use that card. That option has not yet been completely ruled out by the defender, although sources close to the defender's entourage admit the little interest shown by Postecoglou to date.

It would only remain, then, for Tottenham to change their mind at the last minute with Lo Celso and agree to a simple transfer. In this case, furthermore, Barça would not have a 'fair play' unless there was some way out on the offensive line .

There's no way Barca would be able to afford a transfer fee. I doubt they'd be able to pay much for a loan either.

I have never been totally convinced about Lo Celso. He's not quite done it for us and I don't think he is an improvement on what is already ahead of him. IMO, he lacks pace, acutely one footed and struggles with the physicality of the Premier League.

I agree another loan is pointless for us and for the player, but we have to find a buyer who matches our valuation, which will prove impossible

I'd swap him for Yamal and a couple other of their outstanding youth talents
There is zero chance Yamal goes. He’s incredibly highly rated by Barca. The fact he’s already part of the first team at 16 tells you all you need to know. The only young talent they want gone is Fati but he doesn’t want to leave. They would probably love us to buy him tho.

Don’t see the point in selling him to be honest. We don’t need the money, he fits the system and we would need to replace him, likely with someone not as talented, given the fact he’s seen as a squad player.

Unless he has stated he doesn’t want to be here then he adds good depth to our squad.

With Maddison's knock, the next two games are a great opportunity for him. If he carries on his pre season form then he should slot right in.

I agree but I'm not sure he is that bothered about being here. Hasnt seemed that way since he signed.

Would not make sense for us to consider such a low fee, as buying a replacement of equivalent quality would cost us much, much more.
