Massively underrated, he's a midfield maestro who was shackled under two managers who had no interest in possession. Going to have a big role to play this season, and especially moving forward if we get back to European competition and need to do more rotating.

Agreed. Still has a lot to offer and he'll opportunities to play. The Fulham game will be a great chance to see him get 90 minutes and who knows, maybe he'll get called up for Argentina during the break.
I’d rather play our strongest team against Fulham and try to win it, than treat it as a training match to give players minutes.

Very surprised he hasn’t had any minutes yet. Would be a big mistake to sell as Maddison is the only like for like player we have and it’s a long old season.

I’d have given him 15 mins at the end to rest Maddison. Really hope we keep him but unless I’ve missed something, it’s really weird we’ve made several subs in 2 games and he’s not had one min.

Agree. He really needs to get some minutes under his belt tho. Whilst I can understand Ange’s slightly cautious approach I certainly feel he could well have got 15/20 mins in both games. Last we he should have got even more than that tbh. As said, too good just to be a back up

We've got Bournemouth, Burnley and Sheffield Utd in the league with Fulham in the Cup next 4 fixtures so you'd think the likes of Lo Celso, Solomon etc. will be getting more minutes.

Sure. To that effect, I believe that Ange will do his best to balance rewarding players who've been working hard in training and also give players who might be exhausted post-Bournemouth a chance to recover for Burnley. We have a short turn around between those games and this would be a great opportunity for Ange to see how some of the other players perform in a competitive fixture.

It’s only been 2 games. He may not be 100% fit, he may not quite be at the level required in training (having had a few injuries himself the last year or so).

Or he may be fully fit and Ange doesn’t see him in any other role than Maddison’s. And he may feel he wants Maddison on the pitch as much as possible.

One thing’s for sure. I trust Ange to judge on pure football a helluva lot more than Conte & Mourinho; he won’t be leaving him out to make a point.

I want him to stay but if he did leave kulu could be an option to replace Maddison but then we’d need to buy and rw

💯 and if Maddison injured then we will need him big time!

Thing is if you don’t play them in the 2 games at the beginning of the season it’s gonna piss them off. He’s an Argentinian international. Starter if fit. He needs minutes for both fitness and confidence of staying. I’m guessing Ange has had a word and explained why the minutes are not happening yet?? I mean he might be building up fitness? Ange might want the Maddison confidence of signing and starting etc. I would love to see Maddison and glc together on the pitch. With Sarr of Bissouma. So excited by our midfield options atm.

Time for Lo Celso to start two next games with Maddison on crutches. We don't want Maddison broken. Strength of our squad.

In one of the post match interviews, Ange said that Royal and Skipp did nothing wrong last week, he just wanted to see how Porro and Sarr would do. He said he had others that he wanted to try to - presumably Lo Celso would be one of those?

Yeah hopefully. Problem is Madds looks like such a leader for us.
Gio does need a run out desperately. Sarr definitely made the second 8 his own

I don't think anyone in the squad is a like for like replacement for Maddison. We've got a new talisman player, who matches Ange's pholosophy perfectly. Anyone else in that position and we're playing different football.
