yes. exactly - real/city might be in for him.
I think some of the ITK brethren said that it was a loan with an OBLIGATION not an OPTION to buy. This got us around paying a much higher fee, as PSG got 20% of the fee. Chill out people, we turned down Ceballos because it was “just a loan”, so Lo Celso is staying...

Now quit worrying and start getting excited for the start of our season!

COYS!

Our own website reported it as with us having an option to be. Only way it could do that is if our contract with Betis has a specific clause stating that should we activate the clause (or circumstances are met which oblige it), then we sign him permanently and Betis will be due x amount over x years etc. Likewise, Lo Celso will be a party to that so won’t get a choice in the matter.

The difference between this and the Alderweireld situation, I imagine, is that Toby’s loan agreement included a clause which said that Athletico could buy out Southampton’s permanent transfer clause for £1.5m, which the duly did as it meant they could sell him to is for a larger fee than the £6.5m Southampton had agreed. Absolutely not a chance Levy entertains anything like that, especially not after 6 weeks of negotiations. Even the most pessimistic of Spurs fans surely can’t be worried that there’s a chance of losing Lo Celso for any reason other than him disappointing in the coming season.

I'm not concerned about this being 'officially' a loan deal. I suspect, as others have described already in the thread, that we'll have paid a sizeable loan fee - presumably that PSG don't get a cut of - and will have already put in place a plan for future payment(s) that minimises whatever Betis have to hand over as part of the sell-on clause, while also being mutually beneficial to our working capital (i.e. We don't have to drop £55-65mil in one go).

There’s no way Betis agreed to let us have him for a year if we didn’t intend/ were committed to buy him

Just watched a few YouTube videos of a couple of his games last year and my word what a player he looks!

Such a well rounded Poch type player with so many strong attributes. Excellent first touch, fine dribbling, brilliant passing and buzzing with energy. Also noticed that he seems to get a really good weight on his passes. Our forward players should be salivating at the thought of GLC and Ndombele linking up the midfield and attack. We should be much more dynamic and difficult to play against this year, once they settle in.

I'm surprised no other top clubs were in for him.

Maybe there were other top clubs that were in for him that we didn't know about but as Herc mentioned a few weeks ago he had his heart set on us so it wouldn't have been worth them pursuing him :)

I imagine first day of training for him tomorrow. Sad times when I'm looking forward to seeing little training clips of him. Really think he's going to be a brilliant signing. Hopefully he will be in contention for City next weekend.

Yes, and also, maybe no clubs were willing to deal at that price.

No need to worry about this beeing classified as a loan deal. Levy is not perfect, but there is zero chance he would accept a deal risking GLC could leave to another team.
