We are also selling players.

If we spend £200m net on players i will be very surprised.
I’ll be pleasantly surprised!
Mind you we gotta buy better and more successfully than we did with the Bale money ?

So you think we will spend £200m net? Which is what the post i was replying to was saying originally.

Let me be clear, I don't think we will spend 200m net, I'm just saying could, easy.

To spend 200m net, we'd probably be looking at spending over 300m! Which would be insane.

Of course I have no more idea than anyone has about what the net spend will be. Chances have to be taken though and we will only know the results in a few season’s time.
No I’m not saying that. Just that we have the info on those we want......

Knowing our luck Argentina will win the bloody thing with Lo Celso as player of the tournament, scoring a bicycle kick in the final that's declared goal of the century and broadcast on national news worldwide. Barca will offer £80 million and sign him 3 hours after the tournament finishes.

that's what Betis are hoping for

the thing is if he has a bad 1 they will wish they sold before

And i'm saying we have no idea how much cash we have. Profit from last summer etc... doesn't mean much as we don't know how much we have spent since then. The stadium problems etc... and of debt of £638m in jan. I think we need to lower our expectations a bit.

If we do spend that much, that would be fantastic. And i will be very happy for you to say 'i told you so'. Until then i will wait and see.

Skipp whilst looking decent has shown all the creativity of a spoon. If he is our second choice 'creative player' whilst Liverpool have Shaqiri, Keita, Lallana etc. and City have Silva, Sane, Mahrez or whoever isn't in the XI then we ain't competing!
I can't help but feel Skipp is where Winks was the season before last. We only really saw him step up last season while he didn't show too much before then. Skipp has the potential to do that at such a young age.

I wouldn't say most of those players you mentioned are really creative in the sense that Eriksen is. The likes of Shaqiri and Mahrez are more comparable to Moura and Son (in which case we may also add Sessegnon to those options). Most of our creativity will come from the heart of midfield in Winks, Lo Celso and Alli, with the likes of Sissoko and maybe N'Dombele offering the box to box athletism. So Skipp wouldn't be overly relied on but could offer a good alternative to Winks.

The way I would see it would be
Winks/Skipp - central ballplaying midfielder
Sissoko/N'Dombele - Box to box engine
Lo Celso/Alli - attacking central midfield playmaker

It gives us good flexibility in midfield so we can alternate formations and different combinations.

That debt should be paid off by the revenue from stadium events. We shouldn't be paying that debt off with "team funds".

until we have enough events to line up which I doubt will cover the annual payments by themselves, and been in the stadium for a season and not 7 games, funds will need to be met this year I expect

We will make well over 100m in player sales so spending 200m is realistic but we'll make a huge chunk back. I wouldn't be surprised if we're more like 50m net spend by the end of the window.

I don't think I'm ready to sacrifice the moral high ground of being able to say ' Of course you got the result but you had to spend 300m to do it'. It's my security blanket for when things go tits up.

Very optimistic IMO. Skipp is not the player Winks is and is unlikely to become as good.

Skipp is 18. Winks wasn't the player winks is at 18.
Skipp will maybe make it with heart and determination and I hope the lad does . But he ain’t going to be as a good a footballer as winks . Different players yes! Different qualities! definitely! Winks is so much more composed on the ball and looks more a spurs ball playing midfielder

Be brave, it only took pool getting 2 players to really transform them. We can do the same

Agree with that, but he may become as good. We don't know yet.

The eriksen situation needs resolving ASAP. If he’s going then we need to start thinking about shifting him on, yes we want a decent price for him. He has 1 year left and if we can get 60m for him, we have take it.

We don’t want to leave it to late and miss out on our primary targets. Then end up not upgrading the squad

we have no control when he goes. apparently he only wants 1 club, if they don't come in for him till August there is nothing we can do accept refuse it. if that's RM we will most probably have to wait till they have disposed of a few as they have signed Jovitic and now signed Hazard
