One thing im curious on. If we werent trying to seal the transfer pre- COPA... why did we make a bid and seemingly leak it pre CL Final? We've effectively shown our hand and now embargoed on progressing further whilst he is at the tournament.

Yes we can negotiate and agree a fee but seems unlikely we can confirm it until after the tournament ends, therefore open to the deal being hijacked by another club. Feels quite un-Levy like. Obviously appreciate its not quite that straight forward, but thats how its played out publicly.

What makes you think we leaked the news of the bid? Surely that was an agent or Betis, not us?

Can’t sign anyone until the Champions League Final is over, can’t sign anyone until the Internationals are over. After that it could well be x had a good tournament so now others are circling. Looks like the same patterns from last year but I guess it’s still early days. I’ll be very concerned if nobody has arrived by July.

but we have the overdraft ready though... :(

More an assumption based on how and where it was reported. If it comes into one of the random blogs or red top rags via some spanish source then fair. But it was widley reported across more mainstream sites like Sky and BBC Sport so that tends to corroborate that its been confirmed on the UK side.

We have had a 60 million bid accepted ( Portuguese journo reporting) . I know It’s probably bollocks but I don’t ever post on the transfer section and wanted to be first just in case.

Haven't been able to find anything. You sure you're not confusing it with Fernandes? I believe a Portoguese journo said we'd agreed for that amount for him.

It was definitely Fernandes that that news (however reliable) was about. Damnit I got excited for a second :cautious:

No it was definitely Lo Celso. It’s really not a reliable source it came up on an Instagram football page ( I follow loads) and translated it said him and 60 mill accepted. I came on here to see if it was true. As I said probably bollocks but I posted anyway. Mainly to see if someone had any more on it.

Here's hoping that for once one of those IG accounts is correct!

Is the report (from ABC Sevilla) about our bid for LC being around 35 million pounds believable? If it is then I worry nothing has changed in terms of our transfers. That is a ridiculously low bid and shows no intention of getting things done and dusted early. I really hope that is a false report.

I don't think anyone other than Daniel Levy or the Betis equivalent can answer that. We've had reports of bids now ranging from as low as 35m to as high as 60/70. We've had reports Betis are demanding 100m for him, or only 70. We all chose to believe what we want in these matters.

It's hard to say, because originally the reports of our bid being 55M were concrete enough that they were saying the bid had triggered Lo Celso's salary bump and Betis couldn't afford to keep him.

The two Spanish sources reporting the bid aren't particularly reliable either, especialy Mundo.

Given that our 60/70m euro bid was widely reported across multiple countries, I'd say this is probably a non story/negotiating tactic.

The BBC amongst others have reported we bid £53m. Considering BBC have one of the most source checking processes I would say they were pretty accurate.
