Player Watch: Gareth Bale - Retires

Is he even the same player he was even a year ago? When was the last time he played competitively for RM? He looked Rusty as hell for Wales recently and couldn’t last the game. This will be massive and expensive gamble and I’d rather we look for the next Bale rather than romanticising about what a fantastic player he once was for us.

Well on the bright side, his body definitely hasn't been run into the ground.

I think he could still be a phenomenal player and if we pay half his wages (which is around 7.5 million euros for a year) then I think it's a gamble worth taking. Could be the difference between top 4/trophy and not.

I can vouch for the online shop refusing Bale. I tried it and it wouldn’t let me. It wouldn’t let me use ‘Shit’ ‘Twat’ ‘****’ either....though it would let me use Dick, Fart, Fanny and Toss.

So either Bale’s coming back or the shop has his surname confused with a selection of dirty words.

Two facts make me believe this could be possible this summer. RM paying half the wages, and the Euros at the end of the coming season. Bale won't want to go into that having hardly played any competitive football. Being as patriotic as he is, he'll feel a responsibility to his country to get himself into his best form before the competition.

Still probs won't happen but it is a little different this year for these reasons.

The second point regarding the Euros would have been true for the last two transfer windows as well though, and the only move he was prepared to make was to play in the Chinese league. No disrespect intended, but I’m not sure that would have provided the best preparation for him to spearhead his country at a major international tournament.

Pure opinion on my part, but maybe the number 1 striker or plan A strikers are going to expensive and we would not be able to afford Bale and him together. With Bale now starting to progress albeit slowly, and maybe having some legs, we are seeing how that pans out and if we are able to get Bale, go for a lower priced striker who is on our plan b list in order to still get the striker we need but also sign Bale. Otherwise we continue with our main target if/when Bale deal is definitely a no go.
