I disagree. Baldini was pictured in Rome a few weeks ago, and it looks like it wasn't for Osvaldo...?

All gone a bit quiet on this one, hasn't it. I imagine that this is directly linked to the you know who story going a bit quiet at the same time, suggesting they are very much linked.

But what I don't understand is how, if he is all that good as we are being led to believe why are no-one else in for him. Or are they?

AVB came out and stated categorically that we were not in for Osvaldo so maybe it was Lamela or Ljajic. If we don't get Lamela then I hope he stays as I don't want Arse or Lolerpool strengthening by getting him.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Baldini Italian? So it wouldn't be outside the realms of possibility for him to be spotted in Italy now and again?

IMO this is only going to happen if we put in a crazy bid with Bale money. Roma know his value will keep rising, but £35m now will be had to turn down just like £85m for the Welsh one.

There are not enough facepalms in the world for The Star this window. Officially the UK based mouthpiece for Marca, have they actually run a story of their own this summer? So today they are picking up on the fact Lamela's agent was said to be coming to the UK so now obviously the deal is done

Could just be that Baldo was in Paris and decided on a quick trip to Rome to visit old friends. Would be nice to be wrong but if we signed a player from every place Baldo goes to we would have enough players for the whole league!

I think you could make a reasonable argument that at 21 Lamela is a better version than Bale at 21. Granted Bale has some other worldy physical attributes that over the past couple of years he really started to use to his full advantage, but Lamela is no slouch and offers arguably better dribbling and vision while on the ball and attempting to work through defenders.

I think Lamela still has areas to improve but I think as far as finding a realistic Bale replacement, he's truly one of the only options. Young, huge potential and he's got a star quality about him. He looks like he could become the face of someone's club some day.

no that's fair enough, I don't have a problem with any of that, I guess it's more the argument that if we sell Bale we absolutely have to get Lamela that I'm struggling with. either way, debating whether we want Willian, Lamela, or both....these sure are exciting times

Think the pictures and the reports, were that he Baldini met with Sabatini, Romas Sporting Director. Think if Baldini confirmed the meeting, but just said it was a meetup with old friends and that was it.

The general feeling coming out of Roma (according to reports) is that a deal between 30 - 40 million euros would suit them as it allows them to balance their books as they have spent quite heavily this summer.
