If anything, just proves he has a place in the squad once VDV and Romero come back. Will also need Porro to be rotated more.

Shown he's a really intelligent footballer who can adapt to all sorts of roles. Every top squad needs utility players who can fill in for several positions at a good level. If he's happy with that role I'm delighted to have him in it.

Really think the future for him will be elsewhere but he really could be an excellent right centre back in a back 3 I think he lacks the dynamism to be a full back in the modern game and technical skills

He's been an excellent CB in a back 4?

I think he is a great utility player to have in the squad, if he is happy with this role then I hope we keep him around.

I mentioned playing him at CB in the summer and was roundly laughed at

I think as a player who can play RB/CB he's a good second RB and Fourth CB

Having that versatility has helped us through the injury crisis

Deserves a lot more respect from some people in here who have been posting about how much of a disaster he is at centre back. A lot of which is because of the calls for youth centre backs to come in. He has rarely let the team down and is generally very solid in every position he is asked to play and fully deserves to be in the side.

Think he's only played one game in his natural position this season. A vital squad player.

Most of the time he’s been good. He had a bad game against Brighton but I think he’s had more good than bad. Defence under Ange is just very different than under anyone else.

100% has a place in our squad, seems to love it here, always puts in the effort and while he can’t do what Porto does at right back if Porro gets a suspension/hurt/needs a rest we’re unlikely to find anyone better to slot in. He actually was pretty good in the inverted role in the opening game. Bonus if he can cover centre back too if he needs to.

Agree. He took a couple of games to adapt (mostly in terms of positioning), but he was great today.

If we want to compete on multiple fronts next year, he will continue to be an important player for us

Performance today aside, what a turnaround from him these past 12 months. Says a lot about his mentality.
