Funnily enough if we remember back it was Mourinho who was the first one to notice him and say we should try and sign him. Not a bad judge of a player.

Some have questioned his mentality but I think in England we have a real problem differentiating between arrogance and confidence. As a nation we don’t particularly like either and get confused between the two. Just something to bare in mind.

His physical attributes make him the perfect mouldable player for Conte, and if he believes he can shape his technical ability then he's basically got his dream RWB, homegrown and young - no wonder he see's him as such a suitable target

Yeah, any non-Italian source that claims “Conte has identified” is almost certainly making things up, or pushing a story from other sources.

Ok I like DJed (I have a real soft spot for Nottingham Forest) but I can't help but feel that people are putting way too much faith into this move as the answer to our RWB problems - at best he's a developing player that could do well but it's really no different to Sess on the other side (he too was awesome at Fulham).....and to some extent not that different to Emerson either.
Really happy to have Djed of he joins but have to manage our expectations on this one.

Think we should forget Spence & sign Molina @ Udinese. Starts at rwb for Argentina inside Romero. Scored 7 goals last season which, I believe made him the highest scoring defender in Europe.

Would cost around £25 million and using our Italian connections we can snap him up before Juve.

Conte isn't a scout. Conte doesn't know all the worlds players. He'll know some players that he'll say he wants like Perisic but others he'd give attributes to Paratici and trust in the scouts. When Paraticis team identify a player they'll run it by Conte who will check the player over and have the final say yes or no. I am fairly sure that's how it'll work

I think Djed and Sess are seen as our future Full backs, I think Perisic and Doherty will be first choice next season with Djed and Sess rotating and learning their roles from the older more experienced pair

Sess and Spence (if he moves) should be our back up wing back.

With the way we want them to play and the number of games we will hopefully play next season, both should see a lot of football.

Doherty and Perisic give both a season or two to continue to develop before hopefully becoming first choice

Issue is we have a problem with our HG squad numbers in the champions league. We can’t just fill our squad with more foreign signings as some of them will have to be left out of our CL squad. It looks like the club have decided Spence had a chance to develop to the required standards and is English so it’s no brainer.

There’s other players I’d like but we have to be mindful of home grown rules. Perisic, Sess, Doherty and Spence gives us a good mix of attributes, youth and experience.
