Played well today. Might have still have a future here at Spurs and honestly, I wouldn't be annoyed if he stayed as a the backup CB to Romero as Sachez seems to be a significantly better fit in Ange's system than Dier.
Honestly Ange has made him a better player in 4 weeks than others have in 4 years. Reason speaks that he needs a hand behind the shoulder manager, which de Boer was for him at Ajax when we paid big money for him.

Good game today in a game where the defence needed pace against a speedy attack. Ange seems to have given him more confidence and I'd also be inclined to keep him as cover for Romero.

Wow. Talk about a turnaround. Dier off to Saudi (hopefully for real $) and have to think Dav is CB#4. He played very well today.

I’ve been one of his biggest critics but today I thought he played really well…..whether he’s worth keeping or not….need to see a bit more and there’s not a lot of time left…

Wasn't worried for a second with him instead of Romero, even his passing looked good. Just don't play him as LCB with 2 midfielders and not enough passing options.

Well done Dave. Very impressive today.

Was worried when he came on and even texted my dad saying great here comes Sanchez but he did well today.

And I'm probably one of his biggest critics.

Played well today and a much better option than Dier in this system. Could certainly live with him as a backup. Problem is he has a year on his contract left and if the right offer comes in, he'll go imo. From his point of view, he probably knows he won't be first choice so doubt there's much appetite to stick around covering injuries and suspensions.

I am going to get pelters for this based on the above reactions but I did not think he was good today. Sometimes it is obvious with him (he gives the ball away) other times it is less so (he takes an extra touch which slows us down, he slings a hospital pass to a team mate) but what it leads to - especially when Emerson is playing with him - is a right flank that gets pressed and targeted by our opponent. And a lack of penetration on the right side.

He grew into the game but we so obviously need better quality rotation at CB, and have done for ages.

I think its because he has been that bad that people will take notice of any signs of improvement. But what I will say is his confidence has been shattered by both JM and AC. Maybe if he gets more confident then we could well see a better player if he is kept on by the Club. Either way I'm not bothered if we sell or keep.

Never one to bash our managers (or players) but it seems clearer by the match that a number of our team must have had serious problems playing under Conte (and to a lesser extent, Mourinho). First Emerson, now Bissouma - which was also injury related - and finally Dav have seemingly turned corners.

Not sure whether Dav is going to do enough for a long term future here, but I'm really pleased to see him regaining confidence and starting to get a string of decent performances behind him.

The bloke has gotten so much unjustified criticism over the years it’s ridiculous.
He’s a good player. Just needs some confidence. Ange seems to be doing just that.

He's also a player that does his best defending in a high line. He can be physical around midfield, and he has the pace to chase if the ball gets played in behind. He doesn't have the concentration and positional sense to play in the a deep block that is under constant pressure. Even great players look bad in the wrong position/system. That's what we're seeing over and over again under current management. Players bought to play for Poch didn't perform well for Conte/Mourinho/Nuno but might be better fits for Ange. Dav isn't perfect, and we could certainly replace him with someone better, but he also isn't a bad defender to keep around under Ange. From a purely squad composition standpoint, it makes more sense to keep him than Dier (who I love and will miss immensely when he leaves) and Tanganga (who could have been a good fit for Ange but doesn't seem to be fit or in the plans).

I agree. I think he was reasonably solid but not much more. He decided to just stand still and watch a cross come past him in the first half which nearly led to a goal. He does invite pressure by being slow on the ball. And I honestly don’t think I’ve seen many physically weaker CBs, he always seems to struggle physically going shoulder to shoulder and often ends up on the floor. I would agree he might do as 4th choice for a season in this system, but not much more than that, and whenever he does play I’ll always be that bit more nervous

I like Sanchez and have always wanted him to succeed but we need to be aware of how often we do this. Players who are who are on the vast majorities of people's we have to move on the old guard lists, only for a couple of games to happen, people then declare they suit the system and then a few months down the line we're inundated with page after page of anger that the players have yet to be sold. Under Conte, my word people were critical of the notion that we may be able to upgrade on Dier and Davies.

I know most of us still want a cb, I know we will need to keep one of the cb's, as I say, if Sanchez stays, I hope he becomes the player he's shown glimmers of being at times, but best to be realistic and expect some poor performances so the whiplash isn't too bad for everyone when he's put back on the why the hell haven't we sold you yet lists.

Yep happy for him to be our 4th choice CB, Phillips 5th but we absolutely have to sign another top quality one as our 3rd choice as the drop-off to Dav and then Davies is too big if we want to be ambitious this season.

But credit to Dav he's playing out his skin lately.
