Wore his heart on his sleeve, which seems to rub the soft modern society the wrong way.

What's the old saying, truth hurts!.

14 years at our club and, as far as I can tell. There's not even been talk of a testimonial game for him. That just doesn't sit right with me personally.

Do testimonial games not usually happen after retirement? I hope that is the reason for it being so quiet on that front, as he truly does deserve one.

In fairness Dawson hasn’t had his yet. I’m sure once Danny retires he might get one.

Its where a club celebrates a long service player. Whilst he meets some of that criteria it did end under a cloud so I doubt very much a testimonial will happen.

Furthermore, this is 2021, with footballers getting paid a persons average salary every week. Testimonials were there to offset their poor wages and earn a little money toward their retirement fund

Get yourself match fit and enjoy your last few years. Fantastic player on his day, can't wait to see him back at the Lane.

Apologies.

I always thought that the proceeds from modern day testimonials went to a charity of the players/clubs choosing.

It does happen in the modern game, but rarely and normally where there is a clamour for it.

Rose left in unsavoury circumstances so he';s burnt his bridges wrt to a testimonial

While he's rubbed some people up the wrong way, I'll have nothing but respect for Danny Rose and look back fondly on a period of time when he was one of the best LBs in the league.

I'll always admire his outspoken nature, even when he said things I disagreed with. At least he was honest.

ya know, thats not always a virtue. not talking about Rose specifically. what if we were all always honest and let everyone we know around us know exactly how we felt about them?

The club tweeted a happy birthday to Danny and then this one. Sounds like the bridges weren't beyond repair. (Oh and what a glorious memory)

After he left quite a number of the younger players gave positive farewell messages.
I just hope he finds inner peace against his demons
Good luck DR
