Hi I am new here. I am here because I am a huge fan of Cristian “Cuti” Romero. I am a fan of Argentina national team. I have been visiting your forum for the last one month since the first day Hotspur interested in Romero. If Romero moves to the Spurs then I will be a Spurs fan like all of you.

As a Romero fan, I would like to give you more input on Romero. Something that you guys probably have yet to know.
1. Argentina is 3-0-0 in Copa America with the goal difference of 3-0 in the 3 games that Romero started. So 3 victories and 3 clean sheets against three very good teams: Paraguay, Uruguay, and Brazil.
2. In those 3 games he played, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Brazil almost had 0 chance to score against Argentina. He totally shut down both Cavani and Suarez in their match up. Against Brazil in the final, Brazil looked more dangerous only when Romero was substituted in the 79th minute.
3. He was among the all Copa America team along with Marquinhos.
4. He was (as you know) Serie A best defender and whoscored give him the highest rating among all defenders of serie A.
5. He also has the highest rating among all defenders in the Champions league with the ridiculous rating of 7.67.
6. According to whoscored, he was the 8th best player in the Champions league last season. Only Messi, Haaland, Kimmich, Cuadrado, Mbappe, CR7, and Rashford have higher rating than him.
7. He plays better in away games than home games.
8. Argentina missing their major international trophy for 28 years. If you want to know why they finally win it? 2 reasons: Emi Martinez and Cristian Romero. Argentina have pretty much the same starting 11 as in Copa America 2019. The only major difference this year: Emi Martinez and Cristian Romero. Both of them ended up making the Copa America team of the year.
9. Just like Arsenal making a huge mistake choosing Leno over Emi Martinez. Juventus also made the same mistake choosing the young De Light instead of Romero. De Light causing the Netherlands exit in the Euro and Romero causing the Argentina first trophy in 28 years.
10. His defensive attributes is spectacular as you guys watch in youtube, but his passing skill is just as good as his defensive attributes.
11. He plays bigger than his actual size of 6’1 (185 cm). The only 6’1 player I can think of that is as good as him in aerial duel is Cristiano Ronaldo.
12. If u want to know his style of play. My best comparison is: the prime Walter Samuel, one of the best defenders in his time.
13. He sometimes likes to go forward to help the attack when the situation is right. That is to answer why he got 2 assists last season for Atalanta.
14. Scaloni his coach in Argentina is a stubborn coach in that he likes to play players that he trusts. Romero was behind Otamendi, Pezzella, and Lucas Martinez Quarta in Argentina pecking order when Argentina called him in the WC qualifier right before the Copa America, but a couple of days of training is enough for convince Scaloni that Romero is his best defender.
15. His best defensive attribute is positioning 10/10 and marking 9/10 and heading 9/10.
16. He has 5 caps for Argentina. In all of them his player rating was always 7 to 9. Meaning that he is a very consistent player.
17. He rarely makes any mistake.
18. He rarely gets injured. In Copa America he got injured twice and he got frustrated and he said in his interview that he was frustrated because he never got injured in Atalanta.
19. He is one of those defenders that have positive impacts on the whole team. He will improve the team just because of his presence. No wonder why an Italian journalist calls him “Ronaldo of DC”.
20. €50 million is too good price for him, in a couple years, Europe will want to buy him for at least double that price.

Sorry for the long post.
Just like all of you, I can’t wait for Romero to join the Spurs.

Btw Cesar Luis Merlo is our very respected reporter. Believe what he says.
Welcome and fantastic first post!

Thanks for the breakdown. It sounds like we are getting an exciting player, not just defender.

Thank you and welcome to this madhouse.
Just kidding it's normally a sensible place to visit.
Hope we end up signing him as he seems an outstanding player and a leader on the pitch. From the latest we've heard it still seems it's likely to happen so hopefully we can get on to our other incoming players.

So much conflicting info I’m confused. Have we have raised our offer for sure, or are we waiting for some other factor, or, it’s been basically agreed in principle for nearly a week?
He like everyone else doesn't know, but it suits that we did because now he is right.

Apparently. :D

Welcome. I’m curious how you think he’ll get along in England with all the diving and his aggressive style. I can see him drawing a ton of yellow cards early on.

Total agreement between Tottenham and Atalanta for Cuti Romero

The Premier League club put on the table 50 million euros plus five in bonuses for the Argentine defender, who will be a teammate of Giovani Lo Celso.
