Wasn’t Dybala only possible if Eriksen left?

Bruno or Dybala ?

If we get GLC I think I’d prefer Dybala.
If he was pie in the sky Fernandes a pretty good replacement for Eriksen.

Either way we’ve left ourselves a lot to do in the last week or so!

Always had a feeling Dybala's salary requirements would take us out of the running. I know he currently makes an amount that would work for us, but if he really prefers to stay in Italy or go to Spain then it was going to take a premium to convince him to move to England.

Going by Herc’s ITK this is the worst time to have a player here who’s heart’s not in it. We’re on the cusp and what we need are solid veteran influences on what is a very promising new generation. Not wandering eyes. This year has to be about unified resolve.

His agents will still be waiting on Madrid to make an offer, I think they've had a new lease of optimism given Madrid's piss poor showing in pre season. However if Madrid really wanted a player they would make it very well known. I expect a late , not too expensive, bid from them in the week and for us to really ramp up our transfer activity. Depends if we see value in letting him go now and how late Madrid initiate proceedings, rather than gamble on him helping us to achieve a CL spot and the £50-100 mil potential prize money we can get.

Bale cost is 90 million in wages over 3 years
We send them Eriksen (valued at 60 million)
We pay Bale 200K per week (10 millon per year) for 3 years and they may the rest.
Levy gets Bale agree that year 4 he goes down to 10 million per year only (No Real top up).
Win-Win

Still need to pay a fee for Bale and remember that they are taking on the value of Eriksen too. Again another factor in this situation is how much is Zidane going to be backed? He wants one big CM signing and that person is Pogba; they may get twitchy and start looking elsewhere in the window. But I can see Bale staying if Madrid don't make that marquee signing.

Holy shit! FFS.

Like where are people getting this inside info that Eriksen's head isn't in the right place, all of the sudden?
What, yall are now a bunch of body-language experts after yesterday's game?

Just cause he missed the penalty? ... (which any other day, a GK woulda dived one way or the other, and yall forget his goal?)
Just cuz he isnt chippy-chappy like Son?

That's Eriksen's normal self. He always been like that! And he celebrated the trophy pickup, like he normally celebrates.
Maybe we got a deal to offload him (given light of the BF news), or maybe not?
But one thing for sure is that, Eriksen's current attitude is his normal self.
Eriksen's been a great servant to the club, and above all, a great professional.

People are ready to twist things however it pleases them. :banghead:

Yea, I just seen that.
I'm not an ITK basher or ever been, but with all due respect, I don't buy that info.

Nothing indicates to me that all of the sudden Eriksen is different now, let alone yesterday's game.
Unless Eriksen himself told someone, no one knows what's his head like.
I'm just gonna go with that ... the source got it wrong, or it's just an opinionated view of the source.

*And I feel like I have to reiterate this (as there are trigger happy people here), but this is no way an attack on Hercs.

Did anyone watch Eriksen's post-Ajax on the pitch interview? I was astounded as to how non-plussed he was. But my friend who now lives in Aalborg (Denmark) said they are all like that. Very straight talking and they show little emotion.

Eriksen scored a great goal and played well (I thought). See no problems here.

Bingo. Scandinavians are very reserved people. I know from experience.

I hope he signs the new deal, I really do.

At the end of the day he always wanted to play at a super club, and I think it's pretty clear now he's running his contract down to achieve that goal. I think it's a mistake under current circumstances but good luck to him, I guess.

I don't think Herc's ITK is a massive stretch considering the timing of the sudden move for Bruno.

My own experience is this.

In the tube in London, 5 years ago when I lived there for 1 year, everybody was talking to everybody - strangers.

In Denmark if you talk to someone you don't know you're weird. Everyone just looking at their phone.

Strange how all the ITK are quiet, then one comes out so they all come out
Well the obvious answer is that there’s a small network of informants so they are likely to hear similar sound bites at similar times.

But I’m concerned that perhaps you are casting cynical aspersions. Hope for your sake the mods don’t see it that way ;)

You don't need to look into his body language, mood, or his performance to understand his head isn't Spurs at the moment. He's had months to commit to a new contract that has been presented to him, but he's refused. Not to mention his comments earlier in the summer that he was ready for a "new challenge". It's true he could still sign, especially if Real or another suitor he likes doesn't come in for him, but certainly his head has been somewhere else if he's stalled (or straight rejected) a new deal all the way until the last week of the summer window. It's been reported we've matched his financial demands, so if he was certain he wanted to be at Spurs for the future he would've signed the thing long ago. Now there's a week left in the window and if there's one thing I'm certain about Levy won't be Eriksen's bitch. If he's not gonna sign, he'll ship him out. No way he's leaving on a free.

Yea I'm aware and agree. (Wish the super club was Barca, as I always expected his choice to be.)

And regarding the ITK and sudden Bruno news ... it could be related, but then again, news outlets like Sky are saying Bruno is being hit up as an alternative to Lo Celso, which imo makes just as sense given the GLC situation.

Wrap it up however you want, ITK or no ITK, he hasn’t signed a contract and there’s one obvious conclusion to draw from that - if we don’t sell him now we’ll lose him for free next year.

I hate to say it - he’s one of my favourite players - but I think we need to sell and replace him. Easier said than done sadly

I still maintain that he will be sorely missed if he leaves. He offers us something which I don't think we will be able to replace. I was really happy to see him come on against Utd and the lack of news of bids in for him.

Agree that he will be sorely missed, but there is no way any club should let a £100M asset run their contract down. Levy quite simply has to find a way to sell or swap him if he won’t sign an extension. And if that means telling Poch not to pick him and threaten him with sitting out the season then I think Levy is stubborn enough to do this. There are potential swap deals around that would need a lot of work (Coutinho, Bale, Dybala), but the sensible thing would be to give him parity with Kane and include a release clause in his contract (e.g. £90m to a foreign CL team, £110m to an English rival), and get his head focussed on us again.

Oh certainly, I agree with all that.
I'm just saying people are very wrong to just say Eriksen is all of the sudden different now, on basis of yesterday's game.

Eriksen was his same self yesterday, as he was with the game vs RM, and as with the preseason training leading up to it.

Yes, over the past few months, you can see signs of Eriksen wanting to leave ... but him having his HEAD TURNED and not acting interested - and that all of the SUDDEN, especially on basis of yesterday's game ... is utter bullshit.

Eriksen's head has been the same as it was at the beginning of preseason ... i.e. he is down to leave us, if the right offer comes in, but wouldn't feel bad if it doesn't (which means staying). He's acted very professional and normal during this whole situation.

There's still the problem wether Eriksen will agree to sign for any other club than RM and Barca. Everything so far has pointed to him having a very clear destination in mind, even been rumours of his entourage flat out dismissing United when they made an enquiry.

It will be interesting to see where this goes as Eriksen himself holds all the cards. Yes in theory Levy could threaten with freezing him out but you can just look at the Toby situation and he's still very much apart of the first 11.
