CE has cost us what, about £30 mill in the 6 years he’s been here in wages & transfer fees. We’d be silly not to take a fee for him now, rather than letting him drift through next season & leave on a free.

English window closing early continues to be an incredibly stupid decision. Real Madrid or any other European giant would always wait out the English window before making a serious approach if they thought we were desperate to sell before leaving on a free.
They really need to rethink this and fix it. If they really wanted a power play they should have moved the English window a week later than all other windows. We'd have all of the money and be the only place in town to go.

Offer Juventus some money + Eriksen for Dybala.
I imagine if we were ever serious about Dybala we probably tried that.

But either Juve aren't interested in Eriksen, Dybala doesn't want us or his salary is too high. Fernandes is therefore a lot more attainable (as long as Sporting drop their fee)

If it was that easy, yes. But if reports are accurate, Dybala wants 300,000 plus in wages. Never gonna happen.

Right, the Juve part of that deal was always going to be easy. It’s that we’d never be able to afford his wage demands.

At this point it’s just better if Juve offer us 50-60M in cash for CE.

that would probably get us close to Fernandes

Seems wierd that he would have agreed a deal in principle a couple weeks ago and not signed yet. That actually makes me a bit angry as a fellow dane.

Lol it’s obviously not true. Just as last season when itk’s told us that Eriksen had extended his contract. It’s pretty clear that Eriksen priority this window has been to move to a bigger club, so why would he make a verbal agreement on an extension before the transfer window is even closed.

Any extension agreement with Eriksen would only happen after the window is closed and it would be between an extension or leaving on a free next year.

It would make no sense for Eriksen to extend his contract before the window is closed. He already said in an interview that transfers might happen in the last days, just like when he moved to us from Ajax.

When an itk mentions verbal agreement you know they have been fed bullshit...

It's perfectly plausible that he verbally agreed terms to sign in the event that he didn't get a move that suited him. We probably have him a deadline to sign them, and that deadline has passed, hence us moving for a replacement.

If Eriksen neither signs, nor leaves this summer, then I’m all for us signing his replacement (let’s say Bruno) and, seeing as he’s off for free in a year via another c.£4m anyway, leave him out of our squad altogether (assuming we’ve replaced him from now) and see if he/ his agent is a bit more enthusiastic about drumming up interest with six months to go before the Euros.

I don’t mean it in a spiteful way, just that the club must come first and that means having only players who want to be hear in the 25.

I'd agree with that approach should that scenario occur, but I can't see us spending the best part of £120m on GLC and BF whilst risking recouping nothing from Eriksen.

We should have just started our league later by two weeks and give the guys a proper rest.

I think the issue is we need to guarantee top 4 as best as possible without a decent Eriksen replacement that would be extremely difficult
Our Champions league run last season if you include match day income would likely be close to £120 million

If Eriksen doesn’t sign by the deadline, we lose him for nothing anyway pretty much, and in a year have to pay for a Bruno. At least by doing it now you leave yourself less to do next summer, albeit having firmed out on an extra salary.

Yeah we can't have this hanging over us for much longer.

I have a sneaking suspicion though that Madrid have been dragging this out knowing that we may be in a tight spot come August and then come in with a really low offer and we's have to accept it.

If the club are going for BOTH GLC and BF then we are taking absolutely the right action.

I imagine this would be another reason why Poch was agitated - he would have wanted Eriksen long gone and a replacement already in or have Eriksen signed up for preseason

This would be the sensible thing to do. Sadly I can see us signing GLC at most, Eriksen leaving for a pittance in Jan, or free next summer, and then us wishing we'd signed his replacement this summer when we're quoted even more next year.

IF Eriksen really is off, Bruno and GLC inbound would be about as well as we could have conceivable done this window. (Dybala was always a dream but not realistic)

Wasn’t Dybala only possible if Eriksen left?

Bruno or Dybala ?

If we get GLC I think I’d prefer Dybala.
If he was pie in the sky Fernandes a pretty good replacement for Eriksen.

Either way we’ve left ourselves a lot to do in the last week or so!
