And how to measure ‘showing commitment’? Because as I have already said Eriksen was never the type to tear around flying into tackles.

No you’re right, he certainly wasn’t, but he still closed people down and the fact that for the last 9-12 months his touch and passing have dropped dramatically is an indication of a player losing focus. I don’t believe it’s simply a drop in form or lack of confidence.

Inter have just agreed £1.3m for Ashley Young, so are keen on doing early deals on expiring contracts.

Just depends if that affects their Eriksen budget

Eriksen been nothing but professional and very unselfish through it all.

He was always clear about his career plans, and instead of signing new deals every year before refusing to play/train/make a stink to force a move he kept the same "low" wages to make sure he wouldn't make it harder for himself.

For those saying he should have signed an extension so we got more: Would you have signed a new deal at work resulting in lower wages in your next job while also reducing the chance to get the said job?

I thought you were making a joke about Young, but it's real.

Meazza, Zenga, Ronaldo, Zanetti, Vieri... Young.

6.5 seasons at a salary which topped out at roughly 1/3 what he’d have got had be renewed, for £11m in transfer fees, producing the highest level of play making on a consistent basis seen at premier league Spurs (and over the longest time period), that’s how I’ll remember him.

I wonder how long Eriksen would need to play for Tottenham for all of us (or at least most) to be able to spell his name correctly. Clearly 7 years is not nearly enough.
