I’ve hammered Levy for days on here and no idea why I’m feeling optimistic about the Eriksen move to Utd, but for some reason I have a feeling that if Eriksen was to move to Utd Levy might just might have someone else lined up to replace him not GLC or Bruno but as well as both or one of these.

Only reason I think this is because Levy would know there will be huge negative reaction from fans/media etc to him and to the club about this move if it happens and he doesn’t sign a world class replacement.. also what message does it send out to the players

On the other hand does he really care what reaction he will get I suspect he doesn’t. Also maybe why such negative ITk about Eriksen and his whole attitude has been leaked to get fans to turn on him.. in my case not who I admit hasn’t been that hard to do given his form and attitude since December time

This Eriksen situation with Utd is a worry, more so given the fact that the reported offer is only £50m. I have no problems with Real Madrid snapping him up for that though. We must be really desperate if we want to make them stronger. He has us over a barrel it seems and it is hurting us right now. Let's hope Madrid come in and snap him up.

If we sell one of our best players to a direct rival then we’ve f*****d this window right up. He needs to be told he’s not being sold to another English club full stop. Either he signs a new deal (with a release clause for a foreign CL club), finds someone abroad to buy him in the next two days (our window deadline) or he rots in the reserves and can go for nothing next summer.

Not really that simple though is it? Once the window closes we either have to accept a cut price move abroad or let him go for free at the end of his contract. So you can see why getting a decent fee from Man U now appeals as we can reinvest in Fernandes.

I'll be very disappointed in Eriksen if he chooses to go to MU. He said he wanted a new challenge and it seemed that was in Spain, but to lower his sights to Utd, Europa League and playing for Solskjaer who has zero track record, would confirm to me that it's financially driven. If that's the case, good riddance frankly. He will have gone back on his word and stuck 2 fingers up at THFC and Poch. It seems quite evident that RM and Zidane don't rate him but he still seems to be clinging on like an ugly bloke pestering a fit bird. Bit embarassing really.

I think RM don't fancy Eriksen at the £130m price quoted. That;s £130m for a "world-class" player.

Maybe Utd will get a bit closer to that figure for Levy's satisfaction. Maybe not Eriksen's fault.

If CE was playing for another team he wouldn't be a player of interest to Poch. In my opinion of course. He isn't a Pochetinno type of player.

I suspect he only wanted Madrid but is now in the mindset he's going so wants out at any cost. We are also probably actively trying to get him out now so his options are probably quite limited.

I think 130m is pure fantasy tbh. What I'm saying is that Eriksen might actively choose Man Utd instead of signing a contract with us. In that case I'd lose virtually all respect for him.

Yep. I’m astounded at people thinking it’s fine letting Eriksen go to Man U even if it means we lose a massive transfer fee. What if we get £50m from them but that allows them CL football next season and us EL football. Suddenly that £50m looks a massively bad deal.

Plus it makes us look like a selling club again on the back of selling Walker to Man City so recently.

Anyway, I think he will still go abroad. We’ll get a decent fee off of a club after our window shuts even if it’s less than we hoped. I just hope we have the money/balls to buy his replacement first.
Agreed. Levy might be alot of things but a mug ain't one of them. Eriksen to utd will not be allowed.

BUt why? If he's unhappy, let him move on. Have you ever been unhappy in a job or a relationship? It's not fair to sign him up against his wishes. I know he's seemingly been stringing Spurs along, but he probably doesn't know what to do.

Happy for him to leave now. Great player when he’s bothered but last year he was largely unbothered and this preseason he’s taken two of the worlds wettest penalties which just about summed his whole attitude up.

This is the kind of scenario that's played out at arsenal a few times and I would laugh knowing Levy wouldn't let it get to this stage. Except he has and it's Eriksen and next year its Toby, Jan, Dier, Rose and Sissoko.

No idea what this is even supposed to mean!

Out of interest, how is the chairman supposed to simultaneously:
- back the manager
- not sell our best players
- stop them getting to the last year of their contract

All simultaneously whilst they refused to sign a new deal? We've been trying with CE and TA for at least 3 years now from all accounts.

Jan's contract is very different as he'll be 33 by the time it expires. Completely normal to dwell on them.

I'm not sure why you've included players with 2 years left - that's a bit desperate

Hopefully the idea is that we string Utd along, leaving us a clear run at Fernandes and then pull out of the deal at the last minute leaving Utd empty handed (then swap Eriksen for Bale or Dybala)

Eriksen is just what the Man United midfield is crying out for. Someone that's able to dictate the tempo and grasp the feel of a game, who also has the capability to be an instigator, creater and finisher.

He'd be a huge signing for them. One of the best midfielders in the league, in his prime. Always fit and always racking up the miles.

I was always resigned to us losing him, but not to United.
He'll be tough to replace, but even though Lo Celso and/or Fernandes may not be as good as Eriksen yet, they might surpass him in a not too distant future with Poch and his guys to help develop them.

I know. But this is a point of principle. We must not sell to Man U. A motivated Eriksen will make them much better. Man U have already seriously improved by sorting out their defence. Sell them Eriksen? It would signal we are a smaller club than them. Levy needs to take a long hard look at himself if he will sell to a rival whilst weakening us at the same time. Eriksen is simply much better than Fernandes.
