You all are vastly underestimating United. From Boxing day on they had 40 points to our 29 including beating us at home.

They would have added a stud at RB, a very solid CB and one of the best creators in the league. It is completely reasonable and even likely that they would be better than us.

I'm still holding out hope that Eriksen is going to try his luck at Madrid after the English deadline in this regard and that Levy sacks up and bring in his replacement plus 1 before he goes (but doubt that happens).

Yep. I’m astounded at people thinking it’s fine letting Eriksen go to Man U even if it means we lose a massive transfer fee. What if we get £50m from them but that allows them CL football next season and us EL football. Suddenly that £50m looks a massively bad deal.

Plus it makes us look like a selling club again on the back of selling Walker to Man City so recently.

Anyway, I think he will still go abroad. We’ll get a decent fee off of a club after our window shuts even if it’s less than we hoped. I just hope we have the money/balls to buy his replacement first.

For a club that has in recent years been good with giving players new contracts we have fucked right up here and it now looks like we are going to strengthen one of our rivals by giving them one of our best players most probably for half of what he’s worth. Should never have let his contract go down to 1 year.

I don’t know how Levy has let this happen, I understand with Jan and Toby as their age means that at some point quite soon they will decline rapidly. But Eriksen in his prime has been allowed to drag his contract down to the last year and now we either take a hit on the pitch or on the balance sheet. CE will take some replacing, but with £100m last year we could have done that quite comfortably, this year we might get £40m and are struggling to tie down players from the Portuguese league and a mid table Spanish club.

Huge 58 hours coming up, I’m starting to panic a little

This is the kind of scenario that's played out at arsenal a few times and I would laugh knowing Levy wouldn't let it get to this stage. Except he has and it's Eriksen and next year its Toby, Jan, Dier, Rose and Sissoko.

Without derailing the thread - sometimes regardless of Manager the players can pull them through. They have a decent squad and if they add CE - it would make them infinitely stronger.

Put it this way - they have improved their squad far more than we have THUS FAR
I agree. But I don’t see Utd as a direct rival for a top 4 place.

you are deluded if you don't think utd are a direct rival to us. they are stronger than last year already, with CE we are significantly weaker while they'll get one of the best playmakers in the EPL.

Really makes no sense to me why he'd go to United.
Same league, same situation of a club just fighting for top 4, based on recent history a backward step too , inferior players and coach. Inferior training facilities, inferior living environment. Bizarre
Better money I guess?

Unless he'll just settle for having any mega name club on his cv before he retires

Obviously selling to United is last resort but at the end of the day it's better then keeping him, as long as we reinvest properly. We'd be much better off with GLC and BF than a sulking Eriksen. If he isn't signing a new contract we need to get rid, having him around will be detrimental. Having said that if our only replacement is Lamela than God help us all.

If we sell one of our best players to a direct rival then we’ve f*****d this window right up. He needs to be told he’s not being sold to another English club full stop. Either he signs a new deal (with a release clause for a foreign CL club), finds someone abroad to buy him in the next two days (our window deadline) or he rots in the reserves and can go for nothing next summer.

This really shouldn't need explaining.

Contracts have been offered and he is not accepting them...its pretty simple

United were always going to recover and start to challenge properly for the top 1-4 again, they’re too big a club in a financially driven era to do a Liverpool and fall away for a generation. I would be shocked and disappointed if we decide to help them do that by selling them a PL proven playmaker, unless we really fleece them for a big fee.

Perhaps this will push real Madrid into action. I'm sure he would sell to them for £10m less than utd

If Eriksen goes to united that would be a disaster

If it is only GLC coming in to replace him that would mean we have gone backwards. Not good.

The only 2 acceptable outcomes from this saga would be.

Sign GLC and Eriksen signs a new contract

Sign GLC, Eriksen to Spain + we sign one of Dybala, Bale, or Fernandes.

It really is that simple for me. 3 days to go.. tick tock..

Can’t see Bale or Dybala incoming. The ITK on both isn’t overwhelming

Couldn't give me the lottery numbers while you've got your crystal ball fully functioning could you?

I think having a disinterested player is more of a disaster, its clear Eriksen wont sign contract and it appears to me that none of the big clubs in Europe think hes good enough to buy. So i dont see what other outcome there are
