For me, this situation is getting to breaking point - Chris has to either commit to us and sign a new deal or we need to get him out ASAP so that we can adequately replace before the season starts.

If he decides that he’d like to leave and pursue a new challenge and there are no takers at the current price, then quite simply Levy will have to reduce it.

We cannot have a player of this quality walk for nothing next summer - it will be a travesty.

Be interesting to see how he plays next season.
He came out straight after the CL final that he was open to a move
Yet no club bigger than us really went in hard for him .

Will he play with a renewed ambition

I think if our football is attacking and positive and Ndombele is pounding away there is no reason to think Eriksen will not rise to the occasion.
I always thought he was a victim of conditions as good as he is but if conditions are good..more dynamic passing through the field he will be better than ever...he can hit them too

Concern is we have 12 days to sell and replace or the next time the transfer window is open he will be signing a pre-contract to leave for free. There is no way we will get Dybala if we take an £80m loss on Eriksen

We were never going to get 80m for Eriksen. He only wanted to go to Madrid so there was no rival bidding as such, and they know they can get him for free next year with no opposition. They would never have paid 80m for one season's worth of CE.

If Eriksen is set on Real Madrid/Barcelona or bust and is prepared to wait until next summer to get his dream move, there's nothing at all we can do about it. He's well within his rights to play out his remaining year, and we don't have any way of forcing him to do otherwise.

Don't like how this is shaping up.

Spanish paper AS saying RM have a verbal agreement to sign Eriksen should preferred targets not come off.

Italian comic Calcio Mercato saying Sarri is pushing for them to sign Eriksen.

Neither have to be resolved before the English deadline, and in fact it probably suits the buying club to wait.

I just hope the club is willing to press forward on getting a replacement if he refuses to sign a new deal. Losing him without replacing would be a terrible outcome. How long until the 'the early window closure makes it so difficult' excuses start popping up?

Imo it all points to him being here for this season but leaving on a free transfer next. That ultimately suits him and RM/Barca who are in positions of power here unfortunately.

He will bag himself a dream move with a huge signing on fee. It'll be very similar to Ramsey last season.

If we need the money from his sale to fund other transfers then we're fucked. We should never let key players run into their last two years. It should be our policy to sell them if they won't commit at that point.

The reality may be that if the window closes because the teams you mentioned want a cut price that financially we are better off holding onto him until his contract runs out because it may be the difference between Champions League football or not and the fee wouldnt covee the cost of missing out.

Hopefully signs a new contract, dread the thought of the window edging closer to closing with no contract signed, leaves potential buyers in very strong position and us with little time to replace him. Reckon it is all down to Madrid, Bale not leaving may have caused further confusion

quite right, but the big picture worry is we need two quality creators if we are to maintain our challenge. As things stand, I can't see Levy delivering...

I’ll be amazed if anything happens until next week now. Whenever it gets this late in the window the deals don’t usually happen until the last few days. So if we sign anyone this week I will be very pleasantly surprised.

So CE, Toby and Super Jan. All leaving on frees next summer. That’s just horrible to even think about let alone being a distinct possibility now ?

Might we not adapt differently as Liverpool did when they sold Coutinho (their creative hub)?

good point. But unlike them our FBs aren't good enough at creating.

So it's through the middle, and nD and Eriksen playing every game to provide the spark.

Lamela can too of course, on his day, but he has proved season after season he is neither fit enough nor consistent enough- that's why Poch wants GLC as well...

People currently have a tendency to underrate Dele in general imo, but in particular the creative side of his game as well.

.

He has said that he either gets his dream move or he signs a new deal. Nothing has changed and there is no evidence to make us think he is anything but a man of his word.

Being pedantic, but the actual quotes don't say he would sign a new deal; he's said he would negotiate a new contract, and his signing of that would depend on the contract on offer. Still reasonably positive quotes IMO, but not definitively ruling out playing out the last year of his deal without signing a new contract.

“It all depends on Daniel Levy and there has to be another club too. Or I will sit down myself at the table and negotiate a new contract. You can’t set a date yourself. There aren’t many boxes that Tottenham don’t tick so if I have to move away, it would have to be a step up.” Eriksen was asked whether he would seek to run down his contract. “That is difficult to say,” he replied. “It depends on the possibilities. If there are no exciting offers why shouldn’t I stay at Tottenham? If I then sign a new contract depends on the conditions.”
