And a left footer! Pissah

The puzzle/jigsaw is nearing completion.

Helluva window

COYS

The left foot shouldn’t be underrated when you’re envisioning game scenarios with both CV and Kane on the field together. It’s one of those small details that can get defenders turned around / confused. Having a lefty in a 4-4-2 can pay dividends, generally. Add Bale & Son into the mix and it’s going to be tough for low block teams to get in front of shots with four different forwards offering different quality and preference from different feet/angles.

It's so silly that Dier's not homegrown. The whole rule is there to make sure teams have english players in their squads. ?
It’s really there so academies and academy products aren’t completely dumped to the wayside. Also helps promote purchasing from the domestic lower leagues.

It’s not at all an English quota or else it would be made as one.

Mendes must be heavily involved in pushing this one through because if it’s true that the loan is only an option I don’t see how this in any way benefits Benfica.

The only thing I can think is that it needed to be a loan for work permit, or nobody else was willing to pay up front. Even then, we somehow got option in our favour.

It does seem strange.

Interesting that majority of our business this year have either been with Mourinho's previous clubs, or with Portuguese links (Mendes)
  • Reguillon + Bale (Madrid)
  • Doherty (Mendes link)
  • Carlos Vinicius (Mendes link)
  • Milan Skiriniar (Inter )
Exception- Hojbjerg & Hart

They both start with H, though. Hmm, interesting...

Carlos looks like he makes good decisions when he's in the opposition box. None of this shooting from a weird angle and missing the easy pass to the open player business that some of our players are guilty of.

Salary off the books and a 3M loan fee. Someone did a breakdown of their expenses and they were in the hole bc of the CL drop.

What are work permit rules concerning footballers? He didn't get a work permit last year for wolves, so what wil have changed?

From what I know & researched...

For non-EU players, to work in UK - UK home office has to issue the work permit. UK home office, for footballers, will depend on a certificate issued by a FA Governing body. Club who is willing to sign him should lodge a application to this FA body and submit player details.

Eligibility criteria:
  • Internationally established at the highest level
  • whose employment will make a significant contribution to the development of their sport at the highest level”.
Since Brazil is highly ranked, player should have played 30% of their last 2 years of their games youth/senior level. If he has done it, its automatic qualification. Vincius fails here.

Next is subjective to FA body ruling but based on a points based system. As per FA, player should earn 4 points or more.

FA defined Points criteria :

CriteriaPoints
The transfer fee is in the top 25% of all transfers to PL in the last 2 windows3 points
The transfer fee is between the 50th and 75th % of all transfers to PL in the last 2 windows2 points
The wages to the player by the applicant club is in the top 25% of the top 30 earners at the club3 points
The wages to the player by the applicant club are between the 50th and 75th % of all the top 30 earners at the club2 points
Players current club is in a Top League and the player has played in 30% or more of the available domestic league minutes1 point
The player’s current club has played in the group stages or onwards of CL/EL/or Copa Libertadores within the last 12 months and the player has played in 30% or more of the available domestic league minutes1 point

**Caveat - FA Can still reject even if player got 4 points or more.
Also there is another appeal process.

But certainly seems doable, as he played CL groups and league join top scorer in Portugal league. I believe top league includes Portuguese league. This is difference from last season.

I don't know how points are given if its a loan+option transfer. Not sure if that satisfies the first criteria. He currently early only 7.5k a week. So, to satisfy the work permit, if required, we might draw up the contract so that he is paid good wages

Pretty sure, he will be granted work permit...But you never know?

Have enjoyed the fact that an Arsenal fan made a thread on how he'd be an ideal signing for them... ha!

Outside of the absolute irony, it's actually solid analysis on his game fwiw.

what people need to understand about this guy is that he came through youth ranks as a defender and only got pushed to play upfront in 2017. So his goalscoring record is very good in comparison to the number of years hes actually been a forward

Just like Drogba.

I still dont think we will be signing Skriniar. It is not that close and we are like 20m apart in the valuations. It's a poker game and it seems that unless Inter really panic, they wont be folding. I wasnt melting down. I was just stating what seems to be happening.
