Just got back from the game. Probably not the first to say this but reminds me very much of Ginola. Especially at one point when on the left side near the touch line one of the Pacos players slid in and he skipped over the challenge and laid the ball off. Beautiful.

I menatioend that int he match thread. Instantly thought Ginola - perhaps it was his swashbuckling running - Ginola was exceptional in that.

Missed opportunity if we don't go for literally The Brian (Bryan) Song by Monty Python

"A man called Bryan
This man called Bryan
The man they called Bryan
This man called Bryaaaaaan"

How often can you sing a song about a player named Bryan in this day and age? Worth a punt for sure, and an epic song. Shame we didn't have him as a kid as could have sung the whole thing and evolved it as he aged...but that's probably asking a bit much.

I’d start him against Watford.

Seems already that him and Kane have a good understanding and when you have Kane in your side you want players in there who are gonna feed him chances.

Skipp and PEH can provide defensive balance in midfield.

Don't want to get ahead of myself people, but I'm pretty sure we've signed the regenerated David Silva

Agree 100%, someone messaged me at halftime to ask what Gil was like, I just replied "Ginola 2.0". Spurs have some player on our hands here

Genuinely excited by this kid, think i spent most of the time watching his movement than the actual game. As others have said, so similar to Modric, Silva, Ginola etc.

He joined Sevilla's youth academy when he was 11, must be so frustrating for the Sevilla fans to lose this absolute gem so early in his career. You want at least a couple of full seasons from your biggest talents.

What a performance. Really impressed.
Energy, tenacious and extremely comfortable running with the ball and taking the opposition on. Unlucky not to score a couple as well.

DId we accidentally find our new number ten? Man he looked surprisingly good centrally finding those pockets of space Eriksen used to get in. Wand of a left foot too. Just wish he could hit FKs and corners...

I know someone asked the question earlier, but why the hell did Sevilla let him go? You cannot convince me that it is because they have better. I would be pissed if I was a fan

Coco is filling in nicely...

It might simply be, they wanted the best chance to win this year, rather than in a few years.

I know you tried but that still does not answer the question. I was Coco's biggest fan (check my posts) but Gil is an upgrade on Lamela imo. So if they wanted the best chance to win this year, then isn't it logical they would keep the better player? My question remains unanswered, why did they get rid of him?

I am not ready to declare Gil better than Lamela on the back of a couple of games against lower-level opposition.

I don't think Gil is ready to start over Bergwijn or Lucas (or Traore if we get him), and I would put Lamela on their level right now - when healthy.

I love Gil's potential. And I think he does offer some skills that are lacking in the club - but barring injury, I think he will primarily be a cup player, and impact player off the bench, with an occasional start against lower level PL teams.

'Got rid' is the wrong way of looking at it, i think. They are also selling Kounde to Chavs, arguably the top young CB talent in the world who started all season for them last year. Not because they want to but because they have to. They are a selling club and need to fund ongoing operations and wages, especially with the LaLiga financial mess--that isn't just hitting Barca it's hitting every team in the league to at least some degree. So from Sevilla's perspective they get a ready-now player who can help them maintain league position (also key financially) along with cash for a promising but unproven prospect who spent the season on loan at much lower level competition. Sevilla is cashing in on promise/potential in both deals. Arguably it's the right time for a selling club to cash in as there's always a high risk of the shine coming off a big prospect.

I understand and this has sort have clarified my query but..... current financial issues aside, I do believe they cashed in too soon, as from what I can see, his stock is going to rise incredibly where we will now benefit not them. I think where I disagree with you @Bluto Blutarsky and Sevilla is that I do think he is ready. You do not get picked by your National team in competitive matches and tournaments on potential. My opinion, as I might be talking crap!!

Didn't he refuse to sign a new deal so they wanted to cash in?
