Two days ago, Estadio Deportivo explained Bryan Gil believes Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou doesn’t trust him. It was also reported he refused to leave the Premier League side side in the winter market

I don't blame him for feeling messed about a bit. A load of loans with no real plan or idea of what is going on. He deserves a bit of stability.

Decent player but I think the criticisms have been fairly balanced. It's clear he has bucket loads of skill and energy. Just doesn't seem to quite fit the physical side of the prem? Or is that too lazy an observation? Hopefully he finds a club that offers him first team and a settled env. As per @teok

It's just a bad fit. We should have cut our losses earlier and let him rebuild his career in Spain. Three years here and has done absolutely nothing. Good luck to him.

I feel a bit sorry for him because he's young and missing a big chunk of what should be first team football, but at the same time you can't say you want to stay and fight for your place, and then complain when you aren't deemed good enough.

Werner, Deki and Solomon all play in his position, best for him to move on.
Hindsight is 20-20, but he should have left in the winter. It was admirable he wanted to fight for his place, but now it just seems misplaced.
Hopefully he'll move on and free up a place in the squad ASAP

Is he eligible to play for Bilbao?
As far as I can tell, he isn't. He was born in Catalunya and raised in Andalusia, the southern-most part of mainland Spain. I don't know if the club makes allowances for players with Basque ancestry or whether Gil has any Basque ancestry.

Finally got the manager that plays attacking football and one where wide players actually stay wide so I can see why he is frustrated. This season especially where players are allowed to make mistakes. His final product needs a lot of work though, I really doubt he would score more than 5 goals in Championship and definitely not in Premiership. His assist numbers aren't great either. He had some chances to impress at Valencia and Sevilla but never really showed elite potential.

He was a long shot punt where we got rid of big wages for Lamela, sad that it didn't really work out for him. Some aren't entirely convinved with Werner and he is much better than Gil in basically every aspect of the game and Werner won't start that many games for us. Needs to go somewhere where he will start, hopefully finds a good place to develop like Rodon did.

Add to that he's extremely lightweight and easily pushed off the ball. Regardless of size you need a certain amount of physicality to play effectively in the Prem.

I think our best option here is to get him on a successful season loan and try to get his value up again. If he goes to Dutch league that could work quite well.

Strange signing in the first place tbh.
For me, he's the perfect example of the challenge of buying a young player several years before they're ready for the Prem.

He was highly rated in Spain and playing regularly. He came in under Nuno, I believe, and we then went to Conte to Ange. No stability at the club or sign that we're developing him.

Of course, he had a part to play in that. I just hope his reputation in Spain is good enough for us to command a reasonable fee.
