Funny thing is, If Johnson keeps up his scoring and assisting rate for the rest of the season and plays a similar amount of minutes that he has played so far, he will equal Lennon's 2nd most productive league season for us with only 1 goal or assist behind Lennon's best ever season.

Lennon was a much better dribbler and caused the opposition more chaos, but end product wise, Johnson is not far behind Lennon's best.

In fairness though Johnson is playing higher up the pitch in a 433 shape as more of a wing forward, where as Lennon for the majority of his time with us was slightly deeper in a 442 or 4141 shape.

Also it’s not just about the direct contributions, it’s also about how they affect play outside of that. Lennon heavily occupied the opposition in and out of possession because he was such a threat on the ball which created space for the rest of our team. He also linked play much better and contributed creatively without direct assists. Lennon also helped us keep the ball when needed as he was far better technically and in possession than Johnson.

As said previously, regardless of how he plays individually, he has a knack of delivering end product. That alone will make him a very rich man playing this game.

I like him. Performances haven’t been great but there’s definitely a player there. Only his 2nd season in the prem.

Some people are very silly to actually write him off completely at this stage.

Brennan Johnson haters can just piss off. Match winner.
Love him for that. Great run, great finish.

But it seems like he only really does well on counters tbh. I hope he can get some confidence on the ball in open play, cause he looks like a scared rabbit most of the time out there. I don’t get it.

He does need to add more to his locker in taking on a man and adding some better movement and passing. He could learn a lot from Son and Deki in this. But he's already proving an excellent asset of the bench as I think Ange wanted him to be all the time at least for this season.

Really composed finish. It would have been easy to snatch at it but he absolutely buried it. A shot high into the net is always a joyous thing to see. We really needed that goal, two draws in a row would have put us off that top four pace. Diolch Brennan!!*

*Thanks

I think one of the problem is the system. In Anges system, the wingers must hold maximum width. I feel like players like Johnson and Werner would play better if they were allowed to cut in more often. I mean, what's the point with a right footed Werner holding max width on the left side? It feels like such a waste. We would be more dynamic if we mixed it up a little.

So happy for the boy. Not for the first time he's helped us come back, great for a 22 year old and can't wait to see him progress in Ange's second season- when the real magic begins!

Same goal/assist contribution as Kulusevski in 500 less minutes. Deki does more work defensively but not bad for his first season with us.

I've been a big supporter of his and defended him a lot. Happy he scored but he needs to pick up his performances, thought he was lacking effort massively

It's very beneficial that Kulu and Johnson has such different qualities that while they are not complete players, one's weakness is the others strength and vice versa.

Kulu's perfectly timed and weighted pass to Sarr made the first goal whereas Johnson's pace gets him the second.

He'll be a smasher.

Its not uncommon to get some erratic form from young players.

He's notching up decent numbers.

Reckon he'll be a beast next season.
