People are going to be really upset if we bring in 3 on deadline day as that will greatly upset the narrative, so it'll shift to either "too expensive" or "just getting bodies in, they're not the players I wanted"

Your posts are just as bad as the posts you’re crying about

Funny one this. I remember when the link came up earlier in the window I was chuffed to see it. Was very impressed with him when Forest had that great cup run and got promoted. Then let the reaction to the news dampen my spirits. Must admit I didn't see much of Forest last season and 8g3a isn't a bad return in a relegation battle.

Really hope he can smash it for us. Has all of the tools. Clearly not a last minute opportunity signing either.

Feels like this rebuild is coming along nicely. Question is whether next summer we can do the Liverpool/Klopp thing and sign serious quality to take us to that final level.

Looks like I'm not allowed to discuss the deal so I guess I should say it's a perfect signing. Honestly I'm kind of ok with it, players with tecnical ability always have some value.

Not fussed about the fee. Not my money, we squandered more on the likes of Davison and N'dombele.

From what I've read he's Pacey, skillful and got room for improvement. Cole Palmer went for the same fee and hasn't even scored in the league

We shall see

Oh no the opposite. Will personally, happily, be surprised and pleased with the work and especially for Ange!

If we want to get best out of Richarlison, we need wingers like Johnson. Good signing. One pacy CB and I am happy.

I think this is one of those times where it's better to let the day play out rather than start stirring stuff up before hand. I'm bored of the negativity as much as the next person, so I don't see a need to go out looking for it. Just my opinion.

No point us crying about it this window. Its been made amply clear, we are going do live or die this season with Richy upfront.

At the very least we have some healthy competition in forward areas.
Other pacy players in the squad who are good finishers. Porro, Sonny first who come to mind. Also he can run onto over the top balls himself and has scored a good few himself, even for Forest.

Huh. People will be over the moon if we bring 3 in today CB, CM and Johnson.

I like him. Raw, but that’s to be expected. He’ll frustrate but not because he’s not trying. A much more direct option to have and unlike Danjuma we might actually use this one.

You have to give the deal some context.
£45m ish, is it a lot, yes, but is it comparable, then yes also.
22yrs old, 1 season PL football, 10 goals in 44 games last year. Is that a great return, not brilliant, but not horrific in a team battling relegation.
9 years ago, after a £12m transfer, Sadio Mane 1st season at Southampton, he’d have been 22yrs old, 10 goals in 32 games. Bit better return, but equally in a side that finished 7th that season.
The reason I make that comparison is positionally they are both similar in that they are classed as forwards, not quite Winger, not quite out and out CF. Secondly, one season later Mane went to Liverpool and scored at a rate of almost a goal every other game for his six seasons.
Comparing today’s prices, Harvey Barnes best season, 13 goals last year, in 40 games, £38m. Cole Palmer, 1 year younger than Johnson, 6 goals in 41 career appearances for a side that crates chances for fun, £40m+.

People need to realize that this is the market now. Chelsea just spent 45m on a kid that's barely ever played for City. Academy products are going for 15-20m. Mount with 1 year left on his contract was 60m. Even Maddison who was considered a "bargain" was 40m with only 1 yr left on his contract.

The market is inflating and I'm actually glad we're not being left behind while also not going overboard like Chelsea. Can't criticize Levy for not spending and then also get mad when we spend. The most important thing is Ange wants him - it's not our job to worry about the price.
Agree with much of this. As ridiculous as it seems, £60m is the new £30m. c£45m for this lad is about right in the current - Saudi inflated - market.

We’re building a young team as well, so while the old adage of ‘buy cheap buy twice’ is often rolled out on this forum, the opposite is that if we get a buy like Johnson right then that position in the team is sorted for 6-8 years, which frees up money in future windows to improve other areas.

Fair enough, I'll take my lumps on this one.

Happy with this one, 22 years old can play across the front 3 he has pace to burn and the most important thing of all the manager really wants him. 👍🏻
