I still think he's too pricey but I saw glimpses, even in short bursts, in that Man U match of why he could fit an Ange system well. Ran AWB ragged with his sprints and offered some nice crosses in when he got the opportunity, especially with ground cutbacks. Would offer a nice change of pace option to Kulu who can often be guilty of slowing down counters.

Yeah I’ve kind of resigned myself to the fact that we won’t sign anyone now. It’s how we work, we get to the point, “look busy” but ultimately fall short of meeting targets.

Rinse and fucking repeat.

Not saying we’ll sign anyone but didn’t we sign Porro on deadline day during the last window?

Honestly don't even see this one happening now.

Assume we'll put in a final bid tomorrow lunchtime, slightly improved, which will be rejected.

Problem is next summer even if we get this guy in we’ll likely need to sign 2 starters, LW and striker and maybe even a rw.
move Kulu to 10 in rotation, then Johnson and new RW, ideally starter striker/richie, Gil and peri will definitely go then maybe even Son so might be solomun/ starter LW

We have no idea how Johnson will adapt and develop under Ange. He may well do better than anyone expected. But I haven’t personally seen him perform at level that would suggest he’d be anything other then a depth option. If that ends up being the case, and it might not of course, but then we could well need another RWF also. Hopefully not and Kulu or Johnson will end up making that spot their own but I don’t think it’s as clear cut as one would hope especially after spending £50 mil on that position.

Personally I’m not entirely convinced by any of our current crop of forwards. Son was obviously world class at a point and Solomon does look interesting but in general I think everyone has a question mark over their heads and that would go for Johnson as well if we signed him. Reality is the change of system and the loss of Kane is exposing the cracks and it’s quite a daunting process to fix because good attackers cost a premium.

We just have to hope that as the season goes on the current roster will click. Which is possible, after all it is a new system and it’s a big change for the attack.

We have some really good academy players coming through.

Would not be surprised in the slightest if this one is intentionally being held back in case we don't get anywhere with other incomings and this is pulled out towards the end and its an overall sign of relief that at least we managed to get one done.

It is crazy the difference in price between transfer within the pl and those aboard. For example Liverpool just got Gravenberch for €40 mill off BM and Johnson is valued at £50 mil by Forrest. Reality is that if Johnson was not HG and played in another league he’d probably be half the price. I know it’s just the tax but it is crazy when you think about it.

Would not be surprised in the slightest if this one doesn't happen, we've probably left it too late as per.

Ive resigned myself to no more additions.

Surprised people are resigned to no more additions, personally looks like its going to be the busiest deadline day in a while, surely at minimum 1 in.

Maybe the wait on him is connected to Forest getting a replacement in.

No way we won’t sign anyone today imo. If nothing happens by midday levy will go full sissoko and bang the money on him. We’re well short of options off the bench if Richarlison gets injured like normal and son goes in the middle. And tbf I think son is done.
