Also whether people want to accept it or not, both Porro and Kulusevski have been signed this season following their “loans”.

With that in mind we have spent:

40 Maddison
35 Porro
35 Van De Ven
25 Kulu
17 Vicario
15 Veliz
3 Phillips

That totals £170m.

We have sold Kane and Winks for a combined £100m.

If we sign Johnson for £45m then that would take our net spend to over £100m which would be in the top ten net spend of teams in all of Europe.

Again, I’m not defending Levy here, but there needs to be a stop to the hyperbole of some posters just because we didn’t sign a player on loan from Barcelona.
I'm sorry i don't normally post on here but this has proper wound me up - we have strengthened in Vicario, Maddison and Van De Ven. Veliz and Phillips are punts and are nowhere near ready for the first team. We have a huge amount of money to spend if we want to but yet again we will not push on when required. No ambition at all.

Ah the old double counting of porro and kulu trick, I see you Donna

Haha so clever with the Donna comment. It’s the first time I’ve seen that one, good one.

Ok buddy let’s go over the last two s so that I don’t “double count”.

Spend - £350m
Sold - £140m

Net Spend - £210m.

Guess what……that puts us 6th in the highest in the Premier League.

It’s a similar trick people keep making by magically not including them two in previous windows budgets cos they were on loan but then not in this window either because we’d already planned their purchase. Their cost has to be mentioned at some point. Surely it’s this window as it’s when the money left the club. Like it or hate it or demand more but we’ve actually spent £70m ish this window net.
Not supporting Levy as I want him out too before you call me Donna.

Nice why are we paying the highest ticket prices to view the sixth highest spenders, 8th finishing club and I dread to think where we sit in the trophies won table.

West ham have the same amount of trophies as us under enic and there's is a higher level trophy.

But 70 net is what many are spending because the TV deal is so large. When you've sold your best player for 100m you need to go above and beyond to try and compete again. It's what arsenal have done and why they challenged last year.

The club and a lot of fans are really happy to just tread water each year

not sure I would call the conference league higher than the league cup. Until West Ham won it it was seen by most including West Ham fans as a joke Audi Cup type deal but I take your point.

Again, read my original post. I’m not defending Levy, I’m trying to get people to calm down a bit over the non purchase of a kid on loan from Barcelona.

I want Levy out as much as the next person, but we aren’t going to totally upgrade the squad in one or two transfer windows. There is so much to do, so many players to sell and a lot of players to buy. I’m hoping that by the end of next summer we will start to see a squad that Ange can work with, not just 13/14 players.

You do. But did you really think Levy was going to spend the 100m Kane money on top of what we’d spent? Bringing it to a £170m net spend when we’re not in the CL? I’d love him to go the extra yard but if you or other fans were expecting that kind of money spent then more fool you.
No fan wants us to tread water, don’t be ridiculous. Some just realise we ain’t gonna spend Chelsea money, probably not even Arsenal money and until Levy and Enic sell this is just the situation. Stuff can be done to maybe speed that up though.

I would like to agree with you but he's my guess on what will happen by looking at Enic history.

We start to get a good squad and then he sells destiny or sarr leaving us short in a key area and without a replacement. The rest of the team is good but it's missing that piece of the jigsaw and when it is replaced another goes and so on and so forth. That is what's happened for two decades and will keep happening until we start strengthening from a position of strength

You do realise that we finished 8th last year, have no European revenue, are £800+ million in debt, and have spent the best part of £100m this window. Where is this huge amount of money? Do you really think Bayern just dropped off trucks off cash for the whole transfer fee, or do you suppose it might be spread out over a number of years?

I have lots of complaints about Levy and the way he goes about a lot of deals (particularly timing), but I respect that he is spending within our means and always trying to get good value (to keep this vaguely relevant to this thread). Also, a man who has 'no ambition at all' does not build the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

I don’t disagree with you at all. We have been hamstrung by Levy when it comes to the playing squad, of that there is no doubt.

I don't even know where to start with this... the stadium was always there to increase the value of Tottenham and spark further revenue streams for the ENIC kitty. The Kane deal was 75% upfront.. it is already confirmed we can spend over £400 million and still keep within FFP. I don't know how people still don't get it.

How about we go over the last 5 years, a better metric for how we have ‘progressed’. And let’s also use our closest match for comparison - Arsenal

Since the 18/19 season

Spent - €726m
Received- €269
Difference - €457

€76m investment per season

Arsenal

Spent - €919m
Received - €201m
Difference - €718m

€119m investment

In that time we have 3 seasons of CL football (including a run to the final), they are only going to have their first in this period this season.

Yes poor recruitment strategy led us to now having surplus players we need to move, but don’t get hoodwinked into thinking we spend money because by comparison we dont

Edit: and before any net spend naysayers say anything, remember we also have one of if not the lowest wages to turnover ratio in the league

It’s actually insane how he’s become must sign now. We simply can’t afford to be left short. Would be basically negligence from the board to do so. Need to see some serious progress made today.

We post a loss every year and ENIC had to pump 100m into the club last year for us to be able to do any deals at all. I don't know how people still don't get that. We're not as flush as a lot of people want to think.
