So did he do his hammy yesterday or not?
Also I don’t know why so many are pro Gill. Early signs for me is he’s not built for the PL. looks too powder puff. If we could use him in a deal
Or get our money back for him or do it.

The biggest worry for me is that most teams fans overrate their players, especially teams lower down in the table. Most Forest fans that I’ve seen think he’s overrated.

Until they know they might be leaving, then they seem to get a bit worse.

My biggest question when it comes to this potential transfer is can he play CF. If he can't to a proper top half PL standard the club should look elsewhere.

I also distinctly remember juve fans rejoicing and celebrating selling us kulusevski and bentancur. I hope we get a similar outcome here too ! 🙏
For a bit of balance they are different price points.
I quite like him, he's direct, fast, quick feet and can score. I think he can be coached into something really good for us but it's a punt and I get why some are reticent.
If we get 2 of our deadwood's out and him in and he turns out well we've won a watch, if not we have an expensive young player on our books to get rid of in 2 years

If Ange wants him, we have to trust he’ll make it work
I just have a nagging feeling that this one is driven by a little more than just Ange wanting him, it's also a little that he's homegrown and that they might be willing to take a player or two from us.
If Ange truly does want him, then great but knowing our illustrious leader as we do, I can't help but suspect he may be the one pushing this deal onto the gaffer.

I've not really watched enough of the lad to make the call on him as far as being suitable for us and this thread is pretty divided really, so I'm still undecided but that little niggling doubt as to why we're interested is lurking in the background.

I guess people watched how instrumental he was in helping Sevilla getting to the final of the Europa league last season, putting in very good performances against the likes of Juventus along the way, and thinking it might be worth giving him a chance to actually adapt to the PL before writing him off. Considering how good Isak has looked for Newcastle despite being thin there’s no reason to think that Gil couldn’t adapt given time. Technically he is very good and from a skill set would suit the role of an Ange winger on paper. Maybe he ends up not making good on his potential but considering we have already paid the money he should be given a chance imo.

This to me is a bigger concern. Regardless of whether I rate the player or not, if Ange wants him then fine, but if it's being pushed by Levy then it's a worry.
If it’s being driven by Levy, that probably means it’s being driven by Paratici.

And if Ange is happy with that, I don’t see a problem.

I don’t believe for a minute that it’s Levy watching Forest on his own and thinking hey, I’d rather have this guy than £50m in the bank.. I think I’ll force him on Ange.. he won’t notice.

What I'm confused about is if we'd been linked with him last summer, as a 21-year old fresh out of a 19-goal season in the Championship, most people on here would be frothing at the mouth at the prospect of us signing him. He scored half the number of goals (and the same number as Trossard, who we were linked with) in a team that escaped relegation by 4 points in the following season, but now isn't exciting? I'm still not 100% convinced he's who we should be going for but I think there's some unfair criticism on here.

I don't mind the idea of Johnson at all, but I don't like any idea of him playing through the middle. My only concern is whether he'd be the only attacking reinforcement. Yesterday didn't tell me anything I didn't already know regarding Richarlison really and despite knowing that he has better in him, I've never seen him as potentially being our number one striker.

Bring a striker in as well as Johnson and I'd be a lot happier with the transfer.

If we pay £50m for him we've well and truly had our pants pulled down. I'd be disappointed at anything over
£25-30m all in.

He certainly isn't a ST for me anyway.

We’ve already got promising but unproven wingers in Solomon and Gil — we don’t need more squad players at the winger position. We certainly don’t need to spend the fourth highest transfer fee in the history of the club on such a player.

What we need is a starting-quality addition to the attack who will create competition for places and light a fire under the current front three. Johnson doesn’t even start regularly for Forest.

If we can’t get a player of the requisite quality, we’d be far better off keeping our powder dry and giving chances to the players we already have in place.
