this guy must be a managers dream.......Mr reliable, quietly goes about his business and after the last few games im thinking a RCB is more urgent (to back up Romero) than LCB.
Thanks Ben.

Consummate pro isn’t he, also he’s still learning and improving even in the latter stages of his career.

I really thought he’d get murdered at LCB in that high line but hats off to him he’s been fantastic and hats off to Ange for his coaching to improve Ben in that position.

I love the way he's bought into Ange's philosophy at an age when a lot of players would be looking at a nice, lucrative pre-retirement transfer.

Contract runs out at the end of the season. I'd give him a 2 year extension without any hesitation. Experienced and able squad player.

Edit: oops. Someone needs to update his Wikipedia

Fair play, very useful squad player and his been excellent when called up this season.

Fantastic pro to have around the place too.

I have always felt he’s not good enough to be a starter if we want to get back to title races and cup finals etc but as a squad player and consummate pro there aren’t many better and credit where it’s due he’s actually improved under Ange this season and his filled in so well at LCB.

Congrats Ben, well deserved extension.

dont have any stats but im pretty sure passing is one of his strengths....the epitomy of a 'solid' EPL professional.
In the past under pressure he’s been caught out a bit but yesterday in particular he was very good with the ball, much improved.

I put that down to coaching 👏 turns out these ‘bad players’ conte was on about aren’t as bad as he said and as some on here thought and can still also be improved with good coaching in a system they enjoy.

A lot of it is down to actually having players to pass to. Theres always movement from the players and a willingness to take the ball now.

So so so true!

I made this simple tactical point last year when some on here were slating a lot of our players and I said its largely because of the way Conte was setting us up in that the spaces between the places was huge so they rarely had an easy pass on and so had to either go backwards or hoof the ball forwards, also if they did have a pass on it was often vertical or horizontal rather than at a nice easy angle.

Ange's style of football is the complete opposite of that and a huge emphasis is having many players to pass to at all times which helps us to retain possession, have fluid movement and rotations and try to dominate games.

I do still think that Davies has improved under Ange regardless of tactics and Ange has helped coach Davies to be able to play this specific role.

Big credit to both of them.

He’s an intelligent guy which I think has really helped him adapt to Ange’s philosophy and system. I thought he was pretty much faultless yesterday and like many others have already said, he’s such a good pro.

I think yesterday may well be the best ive seen him play for us , a flawless performance and his touch that stopped Isak scoring was as good as him scoring a goal for us.
