Slightly off-track, Pele thinks really highly of himself doesnt he? Watching his past interviews he always says he is the best player ever. I think if not for maradona's crazy ways no one would argue he was much better than pele. And also which is why, with messi's lack of controversies, i would rate him as the greatest player of all time. True he hasnt won a world cup but i wont judge him based on not winning the world cup.

I read most of Pele's autobiography. He is indeed a colossal narcissist. He claims to have coined the term "the beautiful game" among many other self-aggrandizing fabrications. I couldnt finish the book - it was that vapid.

No it is not the job of the media to blow everything out of all fucking proportion.

Blowing everything out of all proportion may not be the media's job, but they seem to believe it is, act as though it is, and have their actions acquiesced in by the public (Gawd bless 'em) :)

Be like me, go on media strike - only problem is, no-one notices or gives a fecking damn :(

From the footage I've seen, it's clear that Pele was an incredible player. I just think that Maradona was more magical...the sort of magic that few players come close to. Zidane comes close, and Messi has probably improved upon it.

I remember a story retold by Lineker. When he was at Barca he watched Maradona walk out onto the pitch and repeatedly kick the ball as hard as he could, straight up in the air. Without moving, the ball would drop straight back to him, and he'd boot it up in the air again. Apparently all of the other Barca players were trying (and failing) to repeat this trick in training. Then again, chemicals can certainly help focus one's perception!

Anyway, back on topic - it always feels me with pride when a legend talks of a Spurs player. I remember Maradona talking about Lennon a few years ago, and now Pele is commenting on Kane.

Isn't this typo somewhat inappropriate when Viagra-King Pele is the topic of conversation? :)
