The price will be high but that won't deter Levy if the ceiling for resale value is potentially very high which looks to be the case.

If he was older the high asking price would be very different but I'm confident it won't be in this case.
This is very true to be fair to him.

Sanchez was touted as the next big CB and we did very well to get that one done, even paying well over the odds you'd expect us to on a CB.

Bergwijn too, the club acted very quickly on that.

This guy looks the absolute business. I am not a businessman and am admittedly perhaps overeager. However, trying to think rationally about this as best as I can, I honestly feel it makes sense to pay the premium on him, up to around 40 mil. Especially if we can do it in favorable installments.

It's kind of a win-win. If we qualify for CL, we get that money back. If we don't, we will have to accept the disappointing reality that Kane will likely want to leave--and I'd have to say will deserve it. At least we would have his ready made replacement, at a fraction of the cost of what we will get for him, and with major resale value.

I feel the positivity around AG coming out with this, but I also harken back to the days when stories were leaking about Levy's famous wheelbarrow across Europe for the likes of Aguero, later Mountinho, etc. My fear is that this is another "oh well, we tried" leak from the club. Only time will tell, I suppose...

It does appear that Daka is our number 1 target at this point.

Diallo is the back up should we not be able to get him.

With Milik lingering in the background should his situation change and we start to get a bit desperate.

Good point, the likelihood is that Diallo becomes the easy out if Salzburg play hard ball.

I get the impression that they aren't quite like that however so I'm still dreaming that we pull this one off. I could see this guy ousting Lucas pretty quickly.

Yeah Liverpool are a bit skint according to SwissRamble. Koop is having showdown talks with Wijnaldum today about Barcelona‘s interest in him. I imagine they wont make big moves until that happens and I think they’ll be focused on replacing him at first.

Imagine this place if we won the CL and the league within 2 years and our only signings across 3 windows were a cheap Greek LB and a backup winger.

I mean, most of us would be dead with alcohol poisoning, but among the survivors there would be a proper meltdown that we weren't capitalising upon our success and I think Liverpool will suffer much like we did if they don't refresh that squad soon.

Puts things into perspective a bit.

It's definitely not the point to sit around and wait...

You can never have enough cartwheel goal celebrations IMO. Sign him up immediately.

Bid 26m then
A bid of 25mill upfront can / and is financially more lucrative for the selling club then a bid of 35mill with various instalments, add ons, bonus related payments (which may never materialise)

As we know, a “bid” is more complex then just “here’s X for player Y”.

Imagine spurs agreed a bonus related payment with Lyon relating to Ndombele, whereby Lyon would be paid a portion of the transfer fee everytime he broke sweat. Ndombele would be the best free transfer signing in living memory.

Without wishing to overly micturate on your chipped potatoes, but surely he’s gonna be the sort of player that if one club comes along then the selling club lets all the other clubs know that they’ve had an offer/are in discussions?

It’s not like signing someone on Champ Man 99/00 after all.

You would think that would be the case, although didn't JJ say he was surprised we kept this mystery target relatively quiet?
