Just say that all of the heavily rumoured wantaway players go in the summer - Rose, Aurier, Toby, Eriksen, Jan, Wanyama and we don't buy anyone. We could be left with something like...

Lloris
KWP Sanchez Foyth Davies
Lo Celso Winks Ndombele
Lucas Kane Son

Bench: Gazza, Dier, Skipp, Sissoko, Sessegnon, Lamela, Dele, Parrott,

Now, that's not a terrible looking team or bench by any means. You add in Clarke, a speedy RB, a physical DM, and a left-footed CB and it looks like a pretty strong squad again.

That central defence is going to concede at least 50 goals minimum

At one point or another, each of those mentioned (Tanganga aside) have been widely criticised and deemed by many as not good enough. It would be lovely, but barring a major uplift in performance, its going to lead to a significant drop off in quality
Agree totally and do have my reservations that Sanchez is good enough although i do think that Foyth will be good enough in the future, can't see Poch asking for another right sided CB and certainly can't see Levy paying out for one.

I cant see that team getting top four to be honest and I cant see half of those players walking into any other top 4 starting 11 either.
That 11 compared to a few seasons ago is piss weak.
Kidding yourself I think.

But isn't that a painful rebuild? Right now this is just a very good team playing terribly

I think Pochettino is massively over egging this and sounds like excuses. We have fantastic options in midfield and offensively. There’s some question marks over Winks and Dier at DM and if Skipp will be good enough. Our main issues are obviously defensively and you are probably talking a RB CB and LB. but I don’t consider that a major painful rebuild.

Shock. How many of these fall outs have we heard about? Either the squad is full of pricks or Poch is the problem. There's one common denominator though...

If the problem is that Poch has fallen out with e.g. Jan, Eriksen etc. then it is important to remember that the players are almost certainly going to be leaving at the end of the season anyway, maybe even in January, because their contracts are running out. Therefore it makes no sense whatsoever to side with the players over Poch. If we sack Poch, Eriksen etc. will still leave in the summer so then we've got nobody. We're better off getting rid of the problem players and letting Poch start a fresh.

Fair enough. But he’s already got 3 key players for our future. So to come out with it as an excuse or say it’s gonna be a “tough season” is a bit strong imo.

Considering we just let in 7 goals at home to Bayern he's not wrong though is he? I don't see that as an excuse, he's just setting expectations.

I think the issue is that he still has players at the club who don't want to be here.

That’s a mid table defence imo.

Honestly, the spine needs keeping strong. You absolutely should be keeping Hugo, Jan, Toby and Kane.

Hugo
- Toby - Jan -
- Dier -
- Kane -
That's your spine. One of the top 5 keepers in the world, 2 experienced top drawer defenders in their prime, an out and out destroyer in front of them/dropping back into a back 3 as needed, and arguably the best all round CF in the world. Maybe it's up for debate whether Dier is still up to it, and if not then that's the other prime recruitment needed.

Add Sessegnon, and recruit a solid RB for the back 4. And we have any number of creative, ball playing midfielders/attackers who can fill in the mezalla/trequartista/enganche roles.

But that central, solid core, is vital.

we just don't know do we whether the younger chaps are going to hit high ceilings or fall away. Same at Scum and Man U though. Chels on the other hand look like their academy has produced and look like the most likely to pull away in third over the next couple of seasons given that cnt will be able to spend again next summer.

Tanganga and or Eyoma could certainly be a player, as could Skipp and or Amos? Or Roles? I'd fkin love it if we could bring 2 or 3 out of Hotspur Way into the big time.

Tomorrow is absolutely massive, no mistake. No getting away from what happened towards the end the other night but what matters more is asserting superiority over most teams in the Prem H and A. 6 points from the next two and a better performance in Munchen and we will hopefully have weathered the storm, with Lo Celso and Foyth coming back, and NDombele getting fitter.

You make a good point other than Man City and Liverpool the rest are reaching for solutions to catch both teams. Chelsea are starting to build a new team of youth, within a season or two they could be really challenging again. Arsenal too are starting to play younger player ...Its why we need to start now to phase in the new team
