Big shame we didn't go in for Tierney IMO. Could've let Rose go and used Davies to support Tierney, who is quality now and will only get better, he's still so young.

We shall see. He played against a league one side last night. He’s spent his career playing against league one and league two level sides so far.

I cant see that team getting top four to be honest and I cant see half of those players walking into any other top 4 starting 11 either.
That 11 compared to a few seasons ago is piss weak.
Kidding yourself I think.

Of that team you’d only select Lloris, Kane, Son, Ndombele, Lo Celso and possibly Sanchez as top 4 quality imo. Potentially Sessengon.

We obviously had our heart set on Sessegnon as a Rose replacement.

I think we fell big time into trap of believing there wasn’t anyone out there better than what we already had.

Should have been subtly bringing in players.

There were definitely better. We just wouldn’t pay for them.

Turns out there were fucking hundreds of players who could have improved what we have

We are an absolute laughing stock. The players we have are talented. You don't become shit overnight, or even in 6 months. Give it to Mourinho with a massive bonus if he makes the CL and the promise to spend big next summer

For me the back 4 needs replacing, in terms of age, being reliable etc. All except Aurier have being their worth for us, but they are aging.
We then need or even need to replace first is Wanyama. Dier whilst still having time on his hands, is recovering from numerous injuries, we need someone like Ndidi who sole purpose is to shield the back 4 and give those around him the opportunity to attack. We have missed this for such along time. Having someone to play along Ndomeble and Winks would be the key. We need to identify that person first in my opinion.
Then we have Erisken.... Its not his fault but a combination of these problems that is the issue at the moment.
For me if i was Levy i would be looking to get in Leciester's scouts in. They have done what we used to do, identify young promising players.
We have been is worse positions, but because its been such a long time since we last hurt like this, fans have forgot. Getting a new manager in is not going to solve this, failing to do anything last season is the reason in terms of refreshing it is part of the problem.
All team need to be refreshed.

The bit in bold.

This frustrates me about Spurs now. What happened to the club who identified young talent (mainly English/British) and would continue to look to at least bring in one (maybe two) in a window? Have we suddenly become too good for that? Just because someone thought the njie's and nkoudous of this world were worth the punt and we have been burnt (not to mention the Janssen project) doesn't mean we should stop altogether. Who's idea is it not to look to purchase (and take punts) on 'talented' youth if he isn't going to promote from within?

The loan for young Clarke is shambles, but on the topic of loans, why, if management won't give them time off of the bench (if they make the bench) are the likes of Skipp etc not seeing Championship loans? KWP is someone that looks like he could have benefited from such a loan as now he seems to be in no-mans-land in the first team.

So many questions with seemingly few answers.

I think the MOTD graphic/comment re players going stale is probably right.

The more I think about it, the more I think Poch has got to be given time and faith to rebuild the team rather than shipping him out.

I agree and the graphics shown demonstrated it well. I'd love Poch to address why we moved away from the pressing game. Seems to be a direct correlation between stopping that and our poor form.

Yes, and there have been loads of quality players available over the last few years. The more I think about our self imposed transfer ban the stranger it looks. Now everything blows up in our faces and it feels like a planned suicide.

I think the Doherty from Wolves is a good player, Lascelles from Newcastle too, for RB & CB.

I feel sorry for Hugo, nasty injury, but I’ve also felt for a while that we could replace him - who with, I’m not sure.

I remember Ledley saying how much less running he had to do when Scott Parker joined, as he was doing so much in front of the back four -this is key for us. I don’t really know who’s out there doing this role at the moment, we certainly don’t have that player here - unless Skipp can show us a bit more?

If this is really the start of a rebuild then Eriksen Vertonghen and Alderweireld should not be in the squad simple as that. There’s not point taking the “pain” when you’re not actually even rebuilding.

Long term I'd be looking at something along these lines, still need help to fill in some of the gaps:

???/Gazza

Aarons (U21)/KWP (HG) or possibly Steven Sessegnon?!
Sanchez/Foyth
???/Tanganga (U21)
Sessegnon (U21)/Davies (HG)

Berge or Roca or Ndidi?/Skipp (U21)
Ndombele/Winks (HG)/Sissoko
Lo Celso/Alli (HG)

???/Clarke (U21)
Kane (HG)/Parrott (U21)
Son/Lucas

We'd need a pretty experienced and good quality CB to guide the others at the back.
