They still bang on about Redknapp ruining us with his spending. They really don't know anything about how Spurs is run do they?

When I read other teams fans saying how entertaining we are to watch it fills me with joy, that is a good yardstick to show how far we have come.

I would hope people appreciate how we've got where we have. Ok we've spent a bit of dosh but we haven't been throwing money around like Man City and or Chelsea and we've progressed slowly but surely over the last few years. We also have a huge amount of British players in our team and we play football the way it should be played. What's not to respect? Any real football fan appreciates that.

If we'd been bought out by some rich arab and bought the league i really would start to lose interest although i'd still be a fan ofcourse. Always. You can tell me that i'm talking shit and i'd love those bragging rights but it's never been about that for me. There's no glory in buying instant success.

I currently live near Brum, so know a lot of Blues and Villa fans. Speaking to them about Spurs and they would much rather see us winning than the other teams challenging for honours. They like the way we have built a team, not just by trying to buy success like Chelsea and now Man City

I was working up there during the summer and met a cab driver who`d puty £60 on Harry being their next manager.
He wasnt happy when i told him it wouldnt happen, Harry wanted to manage a c/l team.

I hate scousers. More arrogant than Man U fans but really don't have anything to be arrogant about.

You mean apart from the 18 titles and 5 European cups?

I didn't get that impression really, skim reading the longer posts. It beats blue moon or arsenalmania. There were some pretty commonsensical posts. I guess the unemployed have a lot of time. A few points;

1. It is weird how few rate Gomes.

2. Lucas in our side and we would win the League? What the Championship? That must have been after the Special Brew kicked in. That for me is the greatest surprise. I think he is awful; in fact only when he played a bit farther forward in a Europa game last year did he look decent. If there was one player I would not want from them, it is he.

3. I can't for the life of me fathom how West Ham's woes can be traced back to Aitch.

4. The idea we have a weak defence is only true of this season when we have, at first, had an unsettled back four and only now having a settled one and look slightly better but with King in there we would be far tighter. Last season with Dawson, we were very good defensively as we were the season before under Redknapp and in Jol's first full season.

5. Joey is absolutely spot on with almost everything he says. Not sure what he is doing posting on there 90 times and not on here. He is especially right about the disparity of the nature of spending between teams in the CL and those aiming for that spot. He missed correcting them about Bentley not being signed by Redknapp, I am pretty sure he would never have signed him.

6. The post about Bale being a one trick pony was almost as unbeleeeevable as the Lucas post.

7. I don't think those that read The Sun in the spring of 1989 would accuse the media of being kind to Liverpool.

I was commenting on the last few season CB. They seem to think they have a god given right to be in the Champs League. I am fully aware of their history mate as I have seen a fair few of their glory days.

I read the thread, the whole of it; an interesting read and there's a good bunch of scousers over there giving us credit where it's due. Of course there are some stupid comments too but far less than you would expect at bluemoon for example. I have a new respect for their supporters and I do feel sorry for them because, damn, they do play some ugly football.

We play the most exciting attacking football in the league right now but we leak goals like crazy. Nothings really changed since Jol era except for better players but at least its fun! We snatched the 3 points at the emirates but the media were praising us as if we fully deserved it. In truth we were poor, unusually unexciting, had a gift of a goal and were very lucky koschelni missed his point blank header at 2-2. They are right about us being media darlings at the moment.

How can it be surprising they don't rate Gomes? He's not a good decision maker and he's been poor this season. Other teams supporters are much more likely to remember his bad moments over his good.

One thing that comes across as well as a general sense of respect is that they're nervous about us. And rightly so. At the moment, it can be argued that we're the better side. That doesn't mean we should think we'll automatically beat them, tomorrow. But at the same time, we have to, have to, believe that we can take the points.

Tbf Liverpool at home is always a good match. They bring good and loud support(despite there scouse accents) and we always beat them at home :) (touch wood..)

4. The idea we have a weak defence is only true of this season when we have, at first, had an unsettled back four and only now having a settled one and look slightly better but with King in there we would be far tighter. Last season with Dawson, we were very good defensively as we were the season before under Redknapp and in Jol's first full season.

And we've played more expansively as a team too. Last season our midfield was largely

Modric/Kranjcar Palacios Hudd Lennon/Bentley

which affords a great deal more balance and solidity than what we often play now. People (not you) often isolate the defence and look for reasons in that area only why a TEAM concedes more goals than they may have done previously. But we are considerably more attacking this season and I still don't think the balance is quite right. Palacios I still really think could be crucial this season especially away from home - it's just a shame so many have written him off or have now decided that he can't pass the ball...

Yeah but a lot of our goals have been individual errors and isolated sloppiness. I agree that the midfield bumper is lighter but in many games we have looked fine and then done something really stupid.
