I personally think I’m the last few games the gap between the front three and the midfield has been too deep/large. I.e. the midfield is sitting a little bit too deep.

It’s a cumulative effect I think, midfielders/WBs not confident/good enough taking the ball in the middle third. Defenders bar Romero not the best passers or ball carriers.

Forest are a newly promoted side, we must take something from this game if we want to be title challengers. Even a draw will be disappointing but we certainly mustn’t lose.

Realistic title contenders will win this match. Of course it's not a must win, because I don't think we're realistic contenders anyway.
IF we win our next three Prem games, then just maybe we're in the mix

Whether it's because we haven't played particularly well (without losing) so far this season or the fact that it's a promoted side away and my mind has already played in to a narrative, but I'm not confident today. It's essential we match them for effort and running and that we take any early chances if we're to come away with a win.

Think today will be the first view of our rotation options so be interesting to see how they approach their chance to shine.

7 games in 3 weeks will mean we have to make the most of our reinforced squad strength.

Sun - Forrest (rotation)
Wed - WHam (strong)
Sat - Fulham (rotation)
Wed - CL - Marseille (strong)
Sat - City (strong)
Tues - CL - Sporting (rotation)
Sat - Leicester (strong)

It’s a tough run over such a short timeframe but we’ll have a good idea of realistic targets for the season by the end of this period.

Think it just comes down to not being good enough on the ball in defence and midfield. Struggle to play through pressure and the ball just gets recycled or lost with a percentage ball. When the game gets stretched later on we’re generally better. I’m expecting more of the same today if we start the same team especially
I agree, but then there are teams with inferior players to ours that are far more fluid. Even if that were not the case, we could go out and by some!

The likes of Burnley have outplayed us, as did Brentford, wolves, Brighton. Its the way we set up. I just dont get it. As I've said before, this kind of football has a very limited shelf-life at Spurs. If the results don't come then the natives become restless VERY quickly and rightly so. When your team is playing decent football and you have a few dodgy results it's easier to swallow because you are being entertained and you can see progression. This style of football rests entirely on the results.

I dont like it and I don't think it will ever sit well with the faithful and nor should it.

There's a reason that we have some how managed to remain one of the biggest clubs in the world despite not winning much for the last 30 odd years, we are a glamour club that represent the greatest values of our game, we want to be entertained and to watch our team play with a certain style and swagger! It's the spurs way!

As a great man once said “The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It is nothing of the kind. The game is about glory, it is about doing things in style and with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom.”

I agree, but I hope we don’t end up making two XI’s like we used to in Europa League. We should integrate the players into important games and not important games so it doesn’t feel like a ‘second string’.

I’m keen to see how Conte approaches that.

The whole point of this summer's transfer activity has been to shrink the difference between "strong" and "rotation" until it is invisible.

Now we are at the point where some fans populate the "strong" lineup with the same players whom other fans select for their "rotation" lineup.

The moment we start playing two games a week, it becomes a moot point, if it isn't already (hint: it is). Player selection will be dictated by injuries, rest requirements and tactical considerations, not by absolute judgments on whether RIcharlison is better than Son or whether Bissouma is better than Højbjerg.
