good point about Townsend - though it just occured to me that if DimTim is right and he shoots better with his right than his left foot then howcomes he never crosses with his bloody right foot?

You can forgive a lot of losses if they at least put in 100% effort each game, and at least showed they were working hard getting the fundamentals right - closing down, corners, throw ins. This laissez faire sheet has been going on far too long.

I found this post funny, not in a bad way but I too am a bitter failed footballer. I didn't even have a trial or get close but I watch some of our players today and think I'm better at them at a lot of things. It frustrates me as I think they are professionals and have all the tools at their disposal to improve but they won't because the ridiculous amount of money they get paid, they've had it made since 17-18 and don't have the drive to get better.

I'll give some examples -

Lennon - The old fashioned winger that still can't cross with the instep while on the run

Adebayor - The striker that barely knows how to shoot, as crazy as that sounds. But apart from volleys or when in a standing position he doesn't seem like he is able to run and shoot with power at the same time.

Dembele - I'd love to see him once just beat a man and play a thru ball, just once god dammit

Townsend - An off the ball run wouldn't go a miss every once in a while, neither would a shot on target

I'm sure there are other basics from other players but these are the ones that spring to mind first so probably annoy me most.

I'm 30 now but still play football regularly, well mainly futsal now as I enjoy it more but if I was in their privileged position I'd try so hard to improve my weak points if that's what my job was.

Totally agree.

If you think that FDB would have come in and made an iota of difference you are absolutely off your head. We have problems with our players that will take time to iron out, doesn't matter who is managing the team and you have to be prepared to wait it out I'm afraid.

No one has any patience anymore and none more so than our fans it's really pissing me off.
A-fucking-men.

To be fair we only scored from that corner because the QPR defending was so bad.

Our corners and set pieces have been an issue for a long time now.
I would say 70% of our corners hit the 1 st man

He doesn't think when he plays, it's as if he forgets that he can cross and shoot with his right foot, very annoying.

You can add Lennon's dinked cross to the back post tactic regardless of whether Adebayor is playing or not to the list OP.

I blamed Ferdinand for not coaching our forwards but I'm not seeing any improvement so far, how hard is it to make a near post run?

How hard is it to vary the crosses?

Only things I truly enjoy about Spurs at the moment is:
•Lloris
•Lamela's work rate and potential

•Eric Dier's potential
•and the fact Poch (like us) is not willing to be soft with players unwilling to fight for the cause and put their back into it.

The coaching is clearly a joke. Why has it not been addressed.

I had a trial with a current premier league club many moons ago and maybe its the bitter 'failed footballer' in me but i find it staggering that such consistent ineptitude and mediocrity brings such adulation and wealth.
Ooh, which one? Who was managing them at the time and do you have a soft spot for them? Genuine interest. :)
I know we have to look at Levy for not acquiring Pochs top targets but at the moment I am more inclined to be looking at him for picking the wrong for the managers job.
No one has any patience anymore and none more so than our fans it's really pissing me off.
It appears our chairman has the least patience of anyone. He consistently makes hasty appointments and then doesn't give them time. Recruitment, personnel management, etc. ... these are crucial elements of running a business. What the fuck does Daniel Levy do?? He's perhaps a capable accountant but he's not a good businessman, and I base that on the club's poor record with staff. He does the numbers and is buddies with Joe Lewis. He's not a football man and he's not a people man. Not fit for purpose any more.

I agree with this to some degree but I'm starting to think that some players aren't coachable and just don't get it.

Add corners to the list. I can't remember the last time we looked like scoring from a corner.

This has been my ongoing frustration as a Spurs fan, ever since I can remember. I used to blame the corner takers (Jenas was just poor at them), but even when we sign a decent corner taker (e.g. vdv), we are useless from them. Move the ball 5-10 yards from the corner flag, for an indirect freekick, and suddenly vdv could pick someone out...anyone able to explain this?

We also have a tendency to concede more goals from corners than we should. We've generally had a decent pair of CBs who win the majority of aerial battles, but as soon as it's a corner scenario, it all goes to ****.

Leicester city, my local club, 1996. Too small for a centre back. And not quite good enough in all honesty.

i cant stand them. Nothing to do with the above. Its the nonsense i heard from their fans in the mid to late 90s when they had a bit of suucess.

I've struggled to see who is DCM & who is ACM is almost all the games ...it seems we just congest the centre.
[/quote]

This is too true. In theory, from my understanding of our current formation, we should have a CDM (Capoue), a CM (Dembele) and a no.10 (Eriksen). These positions only seem to become apparent when we counter-attack, or when we take set pieces, and the CDM is the one that stays deep.

I had that experience with Leicester fans as well. They were some seriously blinkered idiots.
