You only need to look at Carter-Vickers CV of loan clubs while at Spurs to see his level , a decent professional but not the level needed to compete at the top of the PL.
Just shows the standard of Scottish club football that he has made a big impression there.
I’d take CCV over Tanganga and Sanchez everyday. I’m not sure he’d be giving away the gift goals that Dier and Davies have been so generous with.

I’d honestly feel so much better about this appointment if we had a DoF in place. Everything I’ve read about Munn does not suggest to me that he is a football expert and his knowledge is the Australian and Asian market not the European one. Just because he worked for the City group doesn’t mean he knows the nuances of the PL. It’s fairly obvious that he was the instigator for this appointment, probably backed up by Base.

For me I’m not at all convinced by Ange, maybe if he was a clear first choice then I’d be more inclined to believe he was part of a clear club vision, but we know he was our 3rd choice at best which does not inspire confidence. Really I can’t help but feel there are better targets available even discounting Nagelsmann.

I will 100% back him and put my belief in him. I am hoping he will prove my fears unfounded. But for this moment I am, after all this time, disappointed.
Seems you are not dissapointed in the manager, but the selection process...?

If Slot was our man, we should have paid up for him. Otherwise the plan is simply to move down a list till we're willing to pay what it takes. Cheapskate, while charging us the earth.

Anyway, Ange clearly has a lot going for him so he has my backing. For how long depends on progress, and whether he is helped or hindered by his Lordship. I expect him to be hindered more than helped.

Find it hard to believe that if you remove everything but Ange.. how do you not root for someone like him? Underdog, always written off, great values.. at the very least I feel like many could get behind him as a man.

Totally understand everything else as you add in opinions of the club, how it's run. But the guy is class act!

I think some feel that we should not be in a position to appoint an underdog.

Too many people in here act as if they really know what is going to happen. Count me among the ignorant. I have no clue if he is the second coming of billy nick or of avb or somewhere in between. Confusing knowledge with feelings is the surest way to angst especially when supporting Spurs.
The thing about Internet opinions is you can spew whatever you want. If in the end you're wrong there is no downside, if you're right you can gloat and sound like you know it all.

Can't think of a single Australian national team player I would want him to sign. 😞
Only possible move I can see is Spurs selling say any of Dier Lenglet Sanchez or Rodon for Harry Souttar from Leicester City as one of our BENCH centre backs. He had a standout World Cup for Australia playing Ange's style of football and could be a bargain price for Levy.

For all the talk of stepping up to the Premier League he will also have much better players to work with
I'm looking forward to see attacking football again and a manager with something to prove

this part is probably quite key with Ange. Jose and Conte never had to do this. Ange will have that inner drive to be successful in the EPL whereas the former two already were - , and always seemed to be doing us a favour

It’s the first time we’ve hired an attacking manager since poch in 2014 - nearly a decade ago. Finally.
I feel like we're back to 2014 and the last 9 years were a dream that gradually turned into a nightmare.

To think we won't have a generational striker to help us forward now is what really gets me. We've wasted Kane's (and our) prime years with misstep after misstep since the fall of Poch.

Unforgivable.

IF he's the chosen one, he's not who I wanted or expected but you take it on the chin and support both the man and the process.

Levy simply cannot afford for this to fail. You'll get a few people making excuses if he does but the naked truth of the matter is that Humpty Dumpty simply cannot afford to have a great fall again. The natives are restless, pitchforks are out and if it goes tits, there won't be much sympathy for him because he's left the door wide open on that with the Slot/Nagelsmann thing. There are two or three natural candidates available and to not get one of them (supposedly because of differences in how he wants to operate), well, it'll be seen as a massive failure on his part if this doesn't come off.

So COYS, fingers crossed and let's see what happens. I suppose :D

On the positive side, this thread is only a couple of days or so away from oblivion. I am moist.

Saying Ange doesn’t have experience at highest level does a huge disservice to his achievements

It’s very very hard to break the glass ceiling being the first one. You can only show case your ability with opportunity you get

Taking national team to World Cup in Brazil , Asian Cup and a Confederations cup is a huge experience in itself. He won one of them in Asia cup , finals Sonny scored and Koreans were desperate to win.
Nearly won against the Dutch in World Cup giving them a scare, and a very commendable performance against far superior group teams in confederation cup

All these ups & down are also experience

Most here wanted Slot who till date haven’t had a down phase … no one knows how he will react when things don’t go his way.
Lets not forget - when we got into CL final in 2019 , Slot didn’t even managed one game in pro football

So let’s keep the context relevant when comparing managers.
International football is completely different. It's really not a positive when looking at his CV. It's also one of the biggest negatives for Enrique that he's been out of club football for do long.

I think we've all read the praise from Joe Hart - who's been managed by Pellegrini, Mancini, Mourinho and Eriksson, and yet still praises Postecoglou for his coaching getting the best out of a player who really was semi-retired by the time he arrived at Celtic. But here's some more testimonies.

Tim Cahill:

“His leadership and beliefs are infectious and I’m proud that I had the chance to share his journey with him and witness his love for our country. The most important part was the belief he instilled in us to play a style of football that could test any team we came up against. This for me sets Ange apart as someone that stayed strong to his values of changing the game in Australia. His saying that will stay with me forever is NEVER TAKE A BACKWARDS STEP.”

Mark Schwarzer:

“Not necessarily being involved in every player that comes in through that door but ‘I need to play a certain way. These are the type of players I want.’ For his system to work he needs to have a bit more of a say in the players they bring to the club. He wants a certain type of player all the time. I also think he can coach players. I think he changes players, he’s got the ability to, and he’s shown it, to make players better.

“We don’t see a lot of that these days. Even the big name managers like Antonio Conte. Tell me a player that’s actually better at Spurs? I don’t think there’s a single player since he has been there that has gotten better. That is something Ange does really well. If you go on that journey with him he wants you there, he improves players with the quality of football they play but as an individual.”

Those are three people who know a lot about football. If they're this effusive about his talents, I see no reason why we should be skeptical.

I wanted to ‘like’ this but slightly concerned about how that would look following your moist comment at the end there.

I’m confident this happens but not confident we’ll see white smoke from Hotspur Way in the next couple of days. Didn’t Ange say he’s going on holiday tomorrow(?) and most of the reports say we’ll make an approach this week - only one one or two reports have said it could be finalised in the next few days. I’m expecting this to drag on for another week or two and only be announced when Ange is back from his hols.

To be fair Munn was put in charge of the City Groups whole China/Asia operation. By all accounts he has traveled to the UK on a number of occasions to keep abreast of developments in coaching and talent identification processes. He has inside knowledge of how they spot talent, and the steps they take to develop it. Postecoglou's appointment may be his idea; if it fails his own head might be on Daniel's chopping block.

I doubt very much that Kane is leaving, all of his suitors will be aware of the fact that like Teddy he will have another 4 or 5 years in him. I think he will play out the last year of his contract, score another hatful of goals and take his pick of offers on the table. The hope is that we do well, and we offer him a major deal, and convince him to stay.

Postecoglou is a risk that can be rectified swiftly, losing Kane is a different matter, especially in the middle of a transition season. Even Levy can't be that stupid.
