It's obviously been a trouble of ours over the last few years.
"Time to behave like a big club"
Spend 60m and 50m on players, bring in 2 of the worlds most decorated coaches.
Didn't work.
Why?
Cause you remove yourself from your values.
Look at United and how they started behaving after Ferguson.
Sign more expensive players, make impulsive decisions. React after what rivals do.
Fergie had a very clear standard and method, which made the club more ready.to compete.
Poch was getting us there.
Then we thought we became big boys cause we reached a CL final and the stadium.
A reminder that we hadn't won anything at that point still.
Ajax never stray from their methods and values. They evolve them but they don't sacrifice for success.
We did and we are paying for it.
Whilst I dont disagree with you, we weren't competing with multiple different clubs for players thenBit suprised this is still a worry for people.
Dembele
Eriksen
Walker
Vertonghen
Toby
Wanyama
Trippier
Son
Alli
All of these players came to us despite us fighting it out between 5th and 6th place.
All were pivotal to how we played and who we were. A team of upcomers looking to improve.
On the flip side
Ndombele
Lo celso
Perisic
Richarlison
All came with a reputation and wanted by bigger clubs.
Arsenal were down in 8th but still signing Gabriel, Saliba, etc
Worked wonders fot them.
Lastly the likes of Villa and Newcastle are going to hang around longer before players choose them over us.
I live in Brazil and everyone knows Spurs now. Newcastle are just starting to get a name but no-one talks about Villa.
That translates to players.
Besides I want us to get back to signing players like Alex Scott. Players looking to prove themselves and fit a system.
You can't say this, the argument was similar but Poch had experience in the PL and La Liga for 4 years managing in the two best leagues in the world and still NEEDED a season to get through his ideas. Is that true?
Poch took Southampton from 14th to 8th. He did well there, changed the way they played, instiled a better culture and improved the team but it's hardly that much more impressive than what Ange has done? The debat around Poch when he joined was pretty much the same thing as we have now with Ange.
I think the fact of the matter is Poch was relatively untested when he took the Spurs job...you could see he had something about him, a good character, ability to motivate players and played attacking football. The Ange situation is not much different to be honest.
Not saying it means he will be the next Poch but just pointing out the managers who have done well for us have not necessarily had stellar CVs and the ones with stellar CVs have not done well for us.
Sad day for the club
Mate we get it you think its a bad appointment.Sad day for the club
I mean this isn't true. I'd say a significant proportion of people on here want Levy gone (including myself), but it seems if you don't blame Levy for every ill in the world then you're backing him.Levy has taken everyone for a ride, the fact he is still in a job with no pressure is scary and down to the fans accepting this
Yeah if it does indeed get confirmed let's just get fully behind him and give him a proper chance.Looks like it’s Ange, then. Much like everyone else, he wasn’t my first, second or third choice but if he has any hope of succeeding, everyone needs to get behind him now. At least he plays attractive football and seems like a decent bloke. We’ve not been able to say that about a permanent manager since Poch.
“Recruitment process”
Not anymore. Fans need to lower their expectations as to where Spurs are at as a club. It's years away from competing properly with the rest of the "top 6" now.And what is wrong with entitlement?
Paying some of the highest prices in the league, to a club in the top ten wealthiest in Europe, which has been consistently in Europe for many years now, gives rise to a reasonable entitlement to appointing a manager that befits that status.
